Do certain medications not make birth control work as well

I am taking birth control I am also on prozac for my anxiety.  I recently had sex 3-18, we did use a condom.  As much I want to believe I am not pregnant, I feel like I am. {I have had a baby before so I know the feelings}  I am having nausea, vaginal discharge, more than usual, always tired, the feeling of movement in my lower abdomen.
I know this is crazy because we used something, and it has only been a few days, but I feel horribly ill, crampy and tired.
Can you please tell me if it is still possible to get pregnant on birth control and a condom? How likely is it?  I have heard that prozac may interact with the birth control
Does it happen that quick?
Thanks

Yeah, but it's really not true. I think what is often forgotten is that birth control pills are not 100% effective, so any accidental pregnancies are likely a result of that in itself. Plus you have to consider people taking the pill incorrectly/inconsistently, etc...

Here is more current data:

If antibiotics dont affect birth contol then why am I still learning that in Pharmacy school? And why are we told to put the pink labels on antibiotics that we dispinse at work?  I would want to be on the safe side and use extra protection when taking an antibiotic and BC, since I know several people who have become pregnant as a result.

Even if Prozac did impact the effectiveness of birth control, which it *doesn't*, you were also using a condom. No way you're pregnant.

Also, as a side note, newer studies have shown that with the exception of rifampin, antibiotics DO NOT affect birth control. So no worries there, either :-)

I am a pharm tech and currently going to school for pharmacy.  If prozac was a medication that did not make birth control (BCP's)  work as well there would be a pink sticker on the bottle.  But I have never heard of prozac causing birth control not to work, only antibiotics.

Def wouldnt be feeling any movement this early.  I dont believe prozac has anything to do w/ birth control.  Check w/ur doctor to make sure.  If ur period is late take a HPT.  Good Luck!

Hi there,
I have not heard that Prozac could counteract the effectiveness of birth control.  I thought the only side effect was a possible decrease in sex drive.  Maybe someone else has some insight for you.

Since you are taking birth control and you used a condom, your chances of being pg are extremely extremely small, less than 1%.

Also, you said you had sex on 3-18, which was only 4 days ago.  It's almost impossible for you to be feeling pg symptoms this soon because it takes about 6-10 days for the fertilized egg to implant in your uterus.

All of this said, I am pretty certain you are not pg, however, you should take a hpt the day your period is due if you are still unsure.

Good luck!!

I know that certain antibiotics can decrease the effectiveness
of the pill.  I don't know about Prozac.  Your best bet is to
either check in with your doctor who prescribed it or your
local pharmacist.  Either one could tell you.  Also, since
you had sex on the March 18th,  I do not think you'd be ex-
periencing pregnancy symptons yet unless something effected
the pill last month.
