Does FlexProtex Work? Will it work for Me?

by MaryJb7, Oct 05, 2005 12:00AM
I am trying to find out if  FlexProtex works. I went to ConsumerHealthDigest and it was not rated in the top 25 products on the market. http://www.consumerhealthdigest.com/top25jointsupport.htm
a product called Phosoplex was rated #1 by them.  FlexProtex
is a new product and their has been no studies done on it yet.

Hello Mary. Arthritis runs deep in my family from my grandmother on down. I think I have tried dozens of arthitis relief products, unfortunately most of them did little if anything for me on the side of pain releif. I would find out if the Flex Protex product is really safe and how effective it really is. I've personally had a lot of success with the Phosoplex product that you mention but the decision to use it was heavily based on the recommendation of my doctor. This was very important for me. I did ask him about the Flex Protect product and and didn't seem overly enthusiastic about it. Also, I was reading an article last week and they said that white flower foods could actually  worsen your arthritis. Do you eat a lot of white flower foods? Just a thought.

Mary,

I am a pharmacist and have never really heard of FlexProtex. When I counsel patients on new alternative medications, I usually tell them to wait a while before trying any new product. I usually recommend waiting until the product has been on the market for 6 months to a year to see if there are any adverse effects seen with that new product. I have done a lot of research on arthritis pain relief formulas because a majority of my customers are arthritis sufferers. I like the Phosoplex formulation. Phosoplex has good quality ingredients and my customers rave about their results. When asked about a Vioxx or Celebrex natural alternative, I recommend Phosoplex.

Hope this is helpful. Stay well!

I was taking Phosoplex, and it is certainly better than Advil or Tylenol, but I was still waking up every morning with my knees feeling like someone battered them all night.  I saw the Flexprotex commercial and ordered some, figuring I really had nothing to lose.  It's a bit cheaper than Phosoplex and the pain is definately dulled in the morning moreso than with any other product.  The cost is still more than i'd really like to pay, but I really like not waking in the middle of the night any more.

I have Rhematoid Arthritis and have been taking FlexPtotex for 8 weeks now.  I am truly amazed by the results.  I have tried many over the counter Glucosamine/Chondroitin formulas to no avail.  My mobility is already significanty better, and best of all I do not feel exhausted from being in pain all the time.  I do not know what helps with pain relief in this formula.  But I am extremely thankful.  I can't find Flexprotex in my local drug store.  I found it at an online store after seeing the commercial.

I just received the Flex Protex Product and I will let everyone know if it has made any changes with my knees and feet. I was injected with cortizone in both of my knees and it seem like the inflamation (inflammation) was coming down and I did not feel pain on my feet when I walk. On third day I was back with pain and inflamation (inflammation) on my knees and feet.

Sleeping well again after I started with the anti-gas pills. The gas that was in my stomach was awful and quite painful, the foul smell was intense and embarassing when I was forced to released. I learned my lesson and I am cutting out the milk.

I swears by the positive results I have gotten from Phosoplex. I am now able to move around pain free.I am so impressed by the product that I would like to know if I could use it for my dog who suffers from arthritis? Would love to know. I am completly satisfied with the Phosoplex .

by OldGal23, Nov 11, 2005 12:00AM
About 6 months ago, I started suffering from a sharp pain in the ball of my foot -- it hurt whenever I walked.  The doctor said it was an inflammation of the ball of the foot and prescribed a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.  I read the warnings for the drug and they were pretty scary -- ulcers, internal bleeding, heart problems, even death.  The drug didn't seem to help much anyway so I set it aside and ordered Flex Protex about a month and a half ago.  At first I noticed no difference and didn't think it was working.  But then after about a week or so, I realized that the pain was gone!  It is amazing!  The foot still occasionally bothers me a bit when I do a lot of walking, but as long as I remember to take the Flex Protex, I am good.  I highly recommend it!

by eroyg82543, Nov 13, 2005 12:00AM
I just recieved my supply of Flex Protex a few week ago and started taking them immediately. It has'nt been a month yet since I started taking the capsuls.  According to the infomercial it will take about a month before you can feel any pain relief. As soon as I feel that it's working I will let everyone know.

by Ellem, Nov 16, 2005 12:00AM
I've been taking flexprotex for about a month and my arthritic pain has gone away, but I now feel stiff in my knees.  Has anyone had this occur?

by TammyGirl27, Nov 17, 2005 12:00AM
Flex Protex did nothing for me zero results. I started using the Phosoplex and the results have been great. I love this product.

by 1Sherman1, Nov 20, 2005 12:00AM
From reading the book, Boost Your Immune System, I learned that arthrtis pain can be reduced by eating a more alkaline diet.  Turn to a more vegan diet.  Whole wheat products, FRESH or frozen fruits and veggies, but not canned.  In a few months you will notice improvement.  Drink fresh, clean water all day, every day.  Flush out the toxins.

Processed foods, sugar (and all the names they give to the various forms of sugar), white flour products and meat contribute to an acidic body.

Acidic conditions results in inflammation.  Not only in your joints, but your cardiovascular system as well.

If the thought of inflamed blood vessels doesn't make you want to change to a more aklaline diet, I don't know what will!

by Raoatrix, Nov 25, 2005 12:00AM
Hey 1Sherman, you are absolutely right. I have chronic RA and moderate OA.  My recent blood test had major improvement; less inflamation (inflammation)....more healthy diet.  Gave up frozen meals that contain tons of salt and preservatives.  All i eat are fresh meals  and AMY'S products.  I also take FLEX PROTEX.  I have just finished my first bottle.  Felt better after two doses.... really! Happy Holidaze everyone!

Found This online awesome read

Nearly 1 in 3 Americans (nearly 70 million) live with some form of arthritis, costing the United States $82.5 billion a year in healthcare costs related to treating the illness. A new study just published confirms high quality nutritional supplements containing glucosamine and chondroitin are the right combination for effective pain relief. The Glucosamine/Chondroitin Arthritis Intervention Trial (GAIT), rigorously evaluated the efficacy and safety of glucosamine and chondroitin in 1,258 people, concluding in its study that the "combination of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate in the right formulation is effective in treating moderate to severe pain due to arthritis."
The study brings good news to adults suffering from the wear and tear of cartilage degeneration, particularly those who cannot tolerate the side effects of taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)," said C. Thomas Vangsness, Jr., MD, Professor Orthopaedic Surgery, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. "For years glucosamine and chondroitin have been well recognized alternative solutions to pharmaceutical options in treating arthritis patients in Europe, Asia and Russia. In fact, preliminary results reported in the study indicated glucosamine and chondroitin were found to be more effective than Celebrex® in treating moderate to severe pain. Clearly, the study suggests glucosamine and chondroitin together may be a good non-surgical pain relief choice for arthritis patients," added Dr. Vangsness.

The $14 million GAIT study is the largest placebo controlled, double blind, clinical trial ever conducted to test the effectiveness of glucosamine and chondroitin. All 1,258 patients who completed the study were over the age of 40 with joint pain and randomly assigned placebo; glucosamine 1500 mg; chondroitin 1200mg; glucosamine/chondroitin at above mentioned doses; or celecoxib (Celebrex) 200 mg daily for 6 months.
The study published each treatment group's response rate to pain. Of note, the group taking high quality glucosamine/chondroitin combination experienced greater relief for the treatment of moderate to severe joint pain than the Celebrex group. The Study was designed to test the safety and efficacy of high quietly glucosamine and chondroitin alone and in combination in reducing pain associated with arthritis. The study concluded that when taken together, " High quietly glucosamine and chondroitin supplements are effective in treating moderate to severe joint pain due to arthritis." For arthritis pain sufferers who find relief in taking glucosamine and chondroitin, they will also find the supplements to be great values. Widely used in Europe for years to treat arthritis, glucosamine and chondroitin are safe and effective nutritional supplements, as proven by the study.
But the key to choosing a glucosamine and chondroitin supplements is by the quietly of the product. Consumer Health Digest reviewed 300 of these products for their actual effectiveness in a recent feature, the results are quite surprising. Click on this link to read their review:

I have had the polymyositis since 1995. It is a muscular-skeletal disease that causes muscle pain and weakness. It causes serious RA in my joints. Polymyositis means Many Muscle Inflammation. As it worsens, I have developed calcification in my hands -- my right thumb, especially. Is calcification similar to bone-spurs? I've heard of something called bone-spurs and that they have something to do with calcification. Is this true?

I'm thinking about purchasing FlexProtex. Can it help the Polymyositis? The RA? And calcification?

I found this in a online Newspaper

Flex Protex Days Numbered??
If you believe the new infomercial, Flex Protex might be the answer to arthritis sufferers' prayers. The natural supplement works like a ``COX-2 Inhibitor'' relieving chronic arthritis pain without any of the nasty side effects of traditional drugs, such as Vioxx or Celebrex, says Donald Barrett, president and CEO of Beverly-based ITV Direct Inc. and Direct Marketing Inc. But the Federal Trade Commission finds Barrett's supplements a bit hard to swallow. The FTC recently took aim again at Barrett and his company of 300 employees for airing new infomercials selling Flex Protex . In fact, the FTC is calling most of the "natural remedies" the infomercial producer touts bogus. And the agency has taken Barrett to court. The ugly battle started two years ago when Barrett began marketing two dietary supplements called "Supreme Green with MSM" and "Coral Calcium Daily" through infomercials on cable television. ITV pulled the "Supreme Green" and "Coral Calcium" infomercials after the FTC won an injunction last year. It looks like Flex Protex infomercial days could be numbered.

This Board is Being Use To Sell Flex Protex
Buyer Beware!!

by all4health, Dec 09, 2005 12:00AM
This is in response to the last post.

Donald Barrett has now filed a lawsuit against the FTC for harassment.  The reason the FTC made them remove previous infomercials is because they didn't have enough scientific evidence to back up their claims about their products.  Now companies like ITV are absolutely sure that they do have enough scientic evidence to back up their products.  The FTC really can't argue with that.  The pharmaceutical companies had people breathing down the necks of the FTC trying to get those infomericals off the air because they were the competition.

It's really super great that the FTC is looking out for the consumer of ALL NATURAL HEALTH SUPPLEMENTS.  Mabye they should start trying to protect the consumer or should I say guinney pigs of the pharmaceutical companies whose drugs cause severe and sometimes fatal side effects.  Everyday I hear of more and more problems with more and more drugs yet it seems no one is interested in protecting us from them.

Sorry for the long post.  I haven't tried Flex Protex myself because I am not at the stage in my life where I need it, but I did try the coral calcium after seeing the infomercial and it has changed my life.  I have been on it over 3 years now and I have never felt better.  I am so glad that I saw that infomercial before the FTC made them remove it from TV.  It's just too bad that so many people will never see it and try it.

Merry Christmas everyone,
Robyn

Yes this forum does seem to be mainly to promote flexprotex after all. I became interested tho because my dog and my mothers' dog's arthritis have gotten so much relief from glucosamine/chondroitin from wal-mart. Since hurricane katrina i have had arthritis in my hands with severe stiffness and was looking for some way to help this.

Someone mentioned eating fresh food might be important and of course since our house was destroyed we've been eating out of cans and at the local buffets now for 6 or 7 months.

I am going to try to cook for myself and cut out the low quality food for a while. If it doens't work, who knows, i might try flex-protex after trying the cheaper wal-mart version of course.

I am less intersted in who is marketing or making money from the product and more in the results. It's very simple- whatever works and my preference would always be to tweak my diet and look for low cost alternatives first.

Plain and simple- geauxp

I took Phosoplex to my physician because I wanted to take it in conjunction with arthro surgery and recovery from torn cartilege.  He advised me to check on whether Phosoplex is stendardized mainly because of the  cost and this info was not on the bottle.  I spoke with the person who formulated the product after a lot of confusion because when you order Phoso nobody who takes the orders seems to know anything about the product.  Be advised that Phosoplex is NOT standardized so you could be getting any amount of Gluco in the capsules.  I did not experience any benefit from Phosoplex.  I am about to try Flex Protex or any product containing HA.

by OW, Jun 12, 2006 12:00AM
I bought 4 bottles (for price of 3) of Phosoplex from BODeSHOP as it was advertised on the website as all natural.  When I opened the first bottle I was greeted with the grossest-looking dark blue colored capsules and thought - what natural color is that?  After 6 long distance calls to Phosoplex, I finally found out it is FD&C Blue # something - an artificial colour.  That's false advertising - the jars are being returned - what are they thinking putting all natural ingredients into such an obscene looking capsule???  It does appear to contain the best joint relief/repair compounds of any product, however - hopefully they will respond to my overtures and boat-rocking and get an uncolored capsule - many people are allergic to artificial colors or simply want to avoid them.

I was in a lot of pain 2 months ago.  I had just made an appointment to see a rheumatologist because the pain was so bad.  There were days when it was hard to pick up a glass or button my pants or even write.  I happened upon the Flex-protex infomercial quite by accident and thought I'd give it a try (although, I admit, I thought I'd probably be wasting my money). Much to my surprise, the product seems to work for me.  While I probably will never be totally pain free, it is way more manageable and I can use my hands with much greater comfort.  I brought the bottle with me to show the doctor.  He thinks that the Glucosamine used must be a stronger and more pure formulation than you get off the shelf in the drug store and maybe that's why it's working for me.  Since there is nothing he can do for me, he agreed that I should keep taking Flex-Protex if it helps me--and it does.  I also got the cream with my first order, which I rub in as often as I need to.  I'm having trouble finding it to re-order.  Anyone know where or how?

by tick, Jun 20, 2006 12:00AM
I started taking Flex Protex a couple months ago.  I was hoping that it would help me with my aches and pains.  Trust me it has done much more than that! I was able to feel results very quickly and I now not only have no more aches and pains but I am also no longer waking up in the middle of the night due to these pains. It is so refreshing to wake up in the morning after a long nights sleep feeling refreshed and energized.  I can thank Flex Protex for this.

I am in desperate need of pain relief.  About 6 months ago I was diagnosed with stenosis.  It was prescribed to do certain exercises in bed before getting up in the morning.  These exercises take a long time to complete because I am to hold each stretch 30 seconds and do180 stretches.  when I finally complete the stretches I have fair relief for a few hours as long as I don't do too much walking or housework.  I would really like to be able to grocery shop or do a mall again, cook a complete meal, even walk to the other end of my house without this intense pain that keeps me bent over and taking shuffling baby steps.  There are many times I lie in bed in the afternoons and cry, not just out of self pity but because the pain is too much to bare.  The stenosis affects my lower back, hips, buttocks, and legs down to the knees.  I am telling you all this because I'd like to know if FlexProtex can help with this type of arthritis where the nerves are being irritated by the compressed disks.

I also suffer from spinal stenosis and bone spurs and found Flex Protex works wonderfully for me.  However, ITV customer relations stink.   It can take six weeks to get the product after ordering it, if you can get it at all.  If you call the 800 customer support, good luck getting someone to answer.  I'm at the point, after trying to find out what happened to my "rush" order that was supposed to have shown up two weeks ago, that I'm looking for a new product or a different way to purchase the product.

Good product, terrible distribution.

by bettytp, Dec 04, 2008 10:25AM
I have ordered the bottle from the TV too. I got it for my husband that suffers with bad knees.
Well, it was okay but we can not afford the high price of the product.
We have been trying to call and cancel but the numbers on the bottle and on my credit card  will not let you speak to a customer service rep . it tells you to leave your name and number and they will call back .
Load of ****!! they never called back .They charged my cc bill before I got the order !!
Now my only recourse is close my cc account and open another one .

Buyer beware for sure!!!!

I used to sell FlexProtex with ITV. I sold a lot of it, and tried it myself, since I had RA.  When iTV ventures collapsed, I could no longer get it for awhile, and began to slow down more each day. Since we had adopted our grandson, I have to keep up with a red headed 12 year old with ADHD and ODD.  It was getting harder each day. I finally searched, and found that I could order it again, and  feel 30 years younger again.  Flex Protex is unbelievable! My neighbor gives it to her dog, and the dog acts like a puppy again.

I'm new to this sort of thing so not too sure about what to do here.

I guess I'll start by saying that I suffer from severe arthritis.  Both Rheumatoid and Dish arthritis pain.  I have tried every over the counter and prescription drug out there, including nsaid's.  Naprosyn, which is in Aleve caused me to get 2 stomace ulcers and 1 small intestine ulcer that were so painful that I couldn't eat or drink anything without severe abdomenal (abdominal) pain.  My doctor put me on Nexium to fix the problem and told me to stop taking Aleve.  Well, I did and after only 1 month, the pain in my abdomen subsided but the ulcers were still there.  My doctor told me to continue with the Nexium until the ulcers were healed.  I did this.  The ulcers are gone now but I still have some pain whenever I eat.  The doctor sent me in for that proceedure where they put a tiny camera down your throat to see inside.  Found out that my Esophagus, stomach, and my small intestines are swollen, red, and irritated.  They don't know what caused it and really don't know how to fix it.  They just keep giving me medicine to cover up the symptoms without fixing the problem.  I finally told my doctor I'm not taking any medications anymore, for anyting.  I feel much better since I stopped all my meds but I would NOT recommend doing this to anyone with serious health problems like heart, liver, kidney, or any other vital organ problem.  How ever, it's been nearly 1 year since I stopped all my medications and now some of my symptoms are starting to worsen again.  Yes, I still take Aleve, but only when I can't stand the pain any longer and only one pill for that day.  I don't take one again until the pain is unbearable again.  This could take up to 1-4 months for that to happen again.   I drink plenty of water, I eat right, but am unable to exercise due to severe pain from my arthritis.  Swimming in a warm pool or just sitting in a jacuuzi for a few minutes really helps with this pain but I can't afford to go to the public pool and swimming in cold lakes, rivers, or streams makes the pain even worse.  I'm stuck in my home and feel doomed to die from lack of movement.  I feel one day I will just grab my chest and fall over dead if I can't find some way to get moving again without any pain.
Unfortunately, I'm also on a fixed low income (Disability - SSI) and can't afford to purchase things as expensive as Flex Protex or Phosoplex.  Besides, the last time I took anything with glucosamine or condroitine in it, it made the pain much worse in my joints.  It felt like they were going to explode from the pressure I felt in them.  Needless to say I quit taking that too.  I feel hopeless and helpless and don't know which way to turn for help.  I feel like just giving up on everything.

If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it!  I truly would!

Flex Protex contains Bromelain, which is contraindicated for people taking high blood pressure medicine. It causes an INCREASE in blood pressure. Bromelain is the ingredient found in grapefruit and grapefruit juice. While it is recommended for weight loss, it is strictly off limits for people with high blood pressure taking medications such as Hyzaar.

I have osteoarthritis extremely bad and am only 46 years old.  I have had back surgery once already and now I can't hardly bend my elbows or move my left shoulder, I'm told I have the spine of an 80 year old.  I should add that I am no wimp, I used to weight train and am extremely strong for a girl.   About 3 or 4  years back I accidentally got someone else mail, I magazine from the Life Extension Foundation.  It was awesome and informative about all kinds of supplements.  I finally found the phone number of the person who was supposed to get the mag and she is a dietitian.  She has done lots of research into products and recommend that me and my Mother take the Arthromax formula that LEF makes.  After taking it for a few months I totally QUIT taking my voltarian (prescribed anti-inflammatory for my Ortho Doc).  The voltarian can cause ulcers and was messing with my kidney function, it helped with the pain, but it hurt me in other ways.   After taking the Arthromax for about 4 months, I started only taking 2 a day and then went down to 1 a day.  It was amazing.  I took them for a few years.
Well after a few years I quit taking it because it is about $44 a bottle and of course insurance does not pay for it.  Well it has been almost  a year now and ALL my pain has returned but as mentioned, now it is worse, I can't hardly  use my arms, I can't lift weights, it hurts to use my hair spray or turn my key in the door (hurts in my elbows). Well I decided I will do without something and order Arthomax again. I am in so much pain that my husband said I am becoming a shut in.
I get it from this web site:  www.lef.org
