Early pregnancy bleeding

Well, not getting my hopes up here but thought I'd ask you all for your experiences. Has anyone had light bleeding early on, but gone on to have a healthy pregnancy? The day after I got my BFP (AF was 2 days late at that point) I had some pink spotting which turned into a pretty light flow for 2.5 days. Slightly more than spotting, but it was all very light pink mixed in with lots of clear discharge. I know this amount is too much for implantation bleeding.

At this point, I'm assuming I am not pregnant anymore, but will get checked out anyway. In the meantime, wondering if anyone has experienced this and not lost the pregnancy? Everything I have Googled has indicated that it's not good news :(

Thanks for your feedback...

You really are so sweet.

I've since found a few things that indicate that implantation can cause a bit of a flow and that as long as it is lighter in colour and heaviness than your period, it could be considered normal. My doctor wasn't worried either - but I didn't experience this with my first pregnancy so it still stresses me out.

Anyway thanks for your words - I appreciate it a lot :)) Hope you and your family feel better soon..

The 'wait and see' mode is so tortureous......why do we have to go through this yuck?!  The having to pee every 30 minutes is a good sign that your pregnancy is sticking.....I know how you feel wondering what you'll see next.  It is AWFUL!  I noticed that with my m/c, the discharge never changed back and forth.  It started brown, and turned to red.  It never did pink then brown.  It was a very obvious and progressive.

You said that it was too much for implantation bleeding, but I have read that you could have a good flow w/implantation.  I have had it w/2 of 4 pregnancies, and it lasted weeks, but brown, sometimes switching to red, then back to brown, then clear......

Anyhow, let me know how all turns out.  I'll be thinking of you. Take care.

Thanks for the congrats and same to you...

Wow really?!? That sounds like what I'm having.. there was the light pink then last nite there was a bit of brown mixed in with some regular discharge..

My doctor said she would run blood tests a few days apart to check hcg which I guess is what I'll do. I've just felt so heartbroken and pessimistic about the whole thing that I was just going to go into "wait and see" mode rather than facing some potentially sad news via the blood tests.

I have to pee every 30 minutes and it causes me so much stress because I'm afraid there's going to be a huge red flow.

Anyway - thanks for sharing your story - that makes me feel much better and hopeful which is really what I need right now :))

Congrats on your positive!

With my current pregnancy, I have had brown spotting for a total of 3 weeks, starting at 5 weeks.  I have had pink spotting, and have seen red blood twice.
It was also mixed w/regualar discharge.  I am currently beginning my 15th week.  I have had 4 u/s, and everything looks normal, and there are no know causes for the bleeding.  I have a doppler, and listen to the hb everyday, which is also in normal range.

I know that you don't want to get your hopes up, but you have a realistic chance of having a succesful pregnancy.  Best wishes to you though.  Hope all is well.   Will your DR. run beta hcg numbers for you, since it is too early for u/s?  Mine did.  Just an idea....it would give you a quicker answer.

With my first pregnancy I bleed pink for 4 days at 12 weeks, thinking I misscarried I went into the emergency room and took a ultra sound there was still a baby, with a heartbeat.

Same pregnancy at 19 weeks I had huge bright red bleeding filling 3 pads, this was on Christmas eve, went to the ER and they kept me for a few hours to watch me.  3 hours later bleeding stopped, Had a ultra sound and found out it was a girl, still alive.

Gave birth at 37 weeks to a 6 lb, 2 oz baby girl.  Who will be 5 in May.

Don't give up hope and Good Luck!

Hi...sorry to hear about the bleeding.
I had a very big bleed in my 12th week....
I was back home visiting TO and I was scheduled to fly home the very next day and was hospitalized.
They said it was a threatened abortion....(miscarrying).
But....I continued to bleed and still had to fly home the next day with my lil' one..(I had no choice)
I returned here and was on bed rest for quite sometime.
I sustained a healthy pregnancy despite the bleed so early on.
I was incredibly blessed with a healthy happy baby boy.
So I am  very hopeful for you.
I honestly think that these things happen...but not necessarily are what we think.
So...rest if you can and I bet things will look alot more brighter in the days to come.
Congrats on the BFP!!!
Ps.
Too bad about your Leafs...hahahaha.
GO Canucks GO!!!!
PPS...How was BC?

first of all congrats on your pg. how far along are you? id think if it was pink with no cramping its probably ok. lots of women do bleed early on, but if you didnt have any bright red blood maybe its all ok. call your dr and let them know.

I am so sorry to hear of your bleeding, but it is possible to have a healthy pregnancy. My sister had the same type of bleeding for 3 days when her period was due. This happened a month later as well. The dr at the time called it over-flow???? Anyhow, she went on to deliver a healthy 7#6oz. baby boy at term.
There are so many things that have to be lined up just perfectly for the pregnancy to stick, as you know. I sometimes wonder if early hpt's are such a good thing. Emotionally it can be devastating. I don't know anything about your beliefs, but I truly think that if God means for it to take place, it WILL happen.
   Take care and best wishes,

Thanks, everyone for the comments - it's always nice to hear some comforting words! I guess there is a very slight possibility that things could be ok based on your responses but I am not betting on it. The weird thing is, I had no cramping at all, but I did feel some pangs coming from what I presumed was my cervix.. definitely not the uterus. At the time I thought it was my cervix scooting up higher, but right after is when there was the light pink blood. This would have been at the 4.5 week mark (a week ago).. I guess I just need to see what the doctor says and hope for the best. I assume an hpt tomorrow morning would likely still come up positive too, from leftover hcg.

Jacksynn - BC technically was great, thanks! Altho I am sure I will blame myself for years to come that it was the skiing that brought this on. I am in good shape and didn't think physical activity was bad at all and I did try to pace myself on the hills (no black runs!). But maybe I should have been taking it easy and not causing myself any physical stress whatsover. Sigh sigh sigh.
And p.s. actually - we are not fans of the Maple Loafs (Habs all the way!) so we were happy with the end result.. and go Canucks!
