Endo

I am a 27 year old who as been dealing with endo for almost 7 years now.  I have had 5 surgerys to have cyst and the endo removed.  I have taken the depot shot as well as the lupron depot.  I have tried just about everything to try to control it.  My periods bring me a great deal of pain that some days I can not even get out of bed.  As well as I get my period about every 2 weeks or so.  I have no children and thanks to the mood swings while on the Lupron depot shot I am trying to get my relationship back with the man I have been with for 6 years.  I went to my doctor yesturday and was basicly told they have run out of ideas.  The surgery only releifs me of pain for a few months and I am back were I started.  They stated that the only choices I have is to try to have a baby now before the endo continues to get worse or start thinking about a hyster.  I don't know what to do.  Does anyone have any opinions or know of any other treatments that I can try.  I want children more then anything but i am not at a point in my life that having a child right now would be a good idea.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I too have suffered from endo for many years.  I also had multiple surgeries to control it to no avail.  I was lucky enough to have three children but two years ago I had a hysterectomy.  I still have the left ovary but at this point I still have lots of problems and they will probably eventually go in and remove it as well.  I agree with the previous poster that it is a double edged sword.  I've done everything they've told me and still suffering.  Think long and hard about a hysterectomy, it is not the answer for every situation.  It may help you, it may not.  Just talk to your doctor and family before agreeing to it.  God bless you and I wish you the best.

I feel for you. I have been there ad done that... Now my endo is so bad i'm having a hysterectomy next month to hopefully help with the pain. I wish you the best of luck in whatever choices you feel are right for you. Sadly though the surgeries cause more scar tissue and adhesions for the endo to attach to so it's like a double edged sword in a way.
