Endometriosis or gastro issue?

by bal78, May 22, 2007 12:00AM
I had an ultrasound in early April which showed a complex cystic structure.  My dr. ordered the ultrasound due to pelvic pain.  After she reviewed the ultrasound she said that the results don't warrant the pain I was having.  She ordered a repeat ultrasound and referred me to a GI.  I don't have stomach problems or bowel problems.  The pain is severe around the time I ovulate and right before my period.  I was worried it was ovarian cancer but I'm only 28 and have no history of cancer in my family.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Does it sound like endometriosis?  I don't have pain during intercourse but when my bladder gets even a little full I can barely stand up the pain is so bad.  It radiates all the way up my side to my rib cage.  How is endometriosis treated?
Thanks for any input.

unfortuatly endo is only found by them going in. not by u.s.  really it depends on where the endo is growing. there can be a number or reasons you have this. it can be treated by surg. its not a horrible surg, and you feel better after you heal, until it grows back. sounds like you need to wait until you get the results back from your other tests before you worry.

I agree,i'd ask for a laparoscopy or a scraping from the wall lining because its more noticeable...and if caught and treated well (obviously not cured) it can stop so much damage or spreading.
Again I have to agree on there being many other possibilitys, PID, IBS (even if you don't have bowel problems a few symptoms can show more around your periods), I'd definately get it looked further into.
