Endometriosis treatment options

I recently had a laproscopy done to confirm that I had endometriosis. I do and they removed some of the lesions on the back of my uterus. I am still having pain and the doctor said that I might have to look into hormone therapy. Birth control hasn't helped my pain in the past. She is talking about either Danazol or Depo-Provera. I have heard scary stories about both. I would like to go off of all hormones, but am afraid that will do me no good either. Suggestions please?

update

Went to doctor today and got first hand information from the doctor..instead of what I heard through my husband. I saw the pictures that were taken during the surgery. They tried to burn off as much endo as they could, but really couldnt do much. The places are pretty small and the doctor says that they could be really deep and that is what is causing the pain. I also saw the scar tissue on the back of my uterus. It looks minimal. Then we discussed the choices of hormone therapy.... depo provera and lupron. We went through the pros and cons and I decided just to give lupron a try, despite my reservations. I have heard that it has helped more than the depo provera, so here goes. I got the shot today and also pills that are the add-back therapy. Hopefully I don't have too many side effects. We'll see. I'll post later on if I need to rant! Thanks for listening guys.

I hope your appt goes well, and I really, really hope that this isn't what you have! Also... you say you have brown blood the whole time youre on your period... Is it really light?? I normally only have a little brown blood for a couple days.. usually right at the end of my period..sometimes a day before.
Endo can only be diagnosed through a surgery.. and a lot of the symptoms are just like a normal period, except the extremity is higher.. I guess you could say.

I am so nervous I have an appt. tomorrow and I have had every symptom you mentioned! And the past few months my cramps just get stronger! And the lower back pain is getting bad as well. Also I have had brown blood the whole time i'm on my period. My and my DH have been TTC for 18 months now and I have a bad feeling that this could be why.

What meds have you tried with your doctor. I'm just curious. My doctor is talking about Lupron. And one of the side effects is bone density loss..and it becomes more of a factor if you have a family member who has had it... My grandma had that.. However, I'm beginning to think that this might be the best way to go b/c I don't know what else I would even try! I'm going to the doctor on Friday for a post surgery checkup.. and I'm sure she will go through everything again.. but it's a tough decision!

I had really bad cramps around my period... Actually it would be the week before, the week of and then on bad months..a few days after that too. Then my back started hurting really bad also. Oh also I always get really nauseaus.. I think that may be from all the pain I get! I also would have (TMI?) diarrhea around my period.. I thought this was normal for that time of the month but if you look at the symptoms of endo that is actually one of them. And actually, it's painful sometimes during sex too depending on the position. Birth control helped me for awhile, but then it just got worse... Now it hurts to stand or sit for too long.. not to mention exercise! Blah I can't even think about doing that most of the time! Now... I have cramps almost every single day of the month. No meds seem to help.. Although I have to admit.. I got percocet after my lap and that seems to take the edge off. Ha.. I'm turning into a druggy. However, I'd like to mention that vicoden and darvocet DONT WORK.

Thanks. I wish there was something that could be done for all of us. I'm so frustrated right now about making a decision, it's not even funny!

Okay actually I think that one of the hormone replacement therapies was lupron depot, but she did mention the depo-provera as an option.. I got so much info stuck in my head the last couple of visits, I'm not too sure!
