Extreme thrush or is it something else??

A week ago had a lot of sex (a bit of rough sex) with my bf, thought the pain a day after was just from that. But pain after sex doesn't usually last that long or hurt so much so I took a mirror and looked below. Had all the signs for thrush such as cottage cheese discharge, itching, burning when I pee, swollen vulva and clit (very painful) and sores on vulval and inside vagina. So I managed to go to a sexual health clinic where they did a test and told me it was thrush gave me one of those pills to insert inside the vagina but the symptoms didn't improve at all 5 days later I'm still in pain. Went to the gp to day they did a basic observation test which was painful and said it was thrush and prescribed me a oral pill to take. Was wondering if anyone had anything similar to this, where the thrush treatment didn't work first hand?  And which medication did u find most helpful and anyone who has had thrush how long did it take for the symptoms to clear up? Because it's really painful and depressing I just want it solved now as walking and even peeing is painful.
