Fibroids and heavy bleeding

by Christy H, May 20, 2007 12:00AM
Several weeks ago I had to go to urgent care because I started my period and bled so much that i was changing about every 1 1/2 hours. By 10:30 am i bled through my pants and began experiencing extreme dissiness and nausea with severe cramps and back pain. The doctor did a pelvic exam and told me that she was going to run some tests. I was IVed and given toradal (liquid motrin). The doctor came back and said that my iron was low and gave me that also. I was refered to a OBGYN because she thought that maybe one of the fibroids ruptured. She said that i needed to discuss a hysterectomy. Is this the only way to solve my problem? i have my tubes tied and don't want more children but hysterectomy is major surgery. Please any advice would help
