First time

I just had sex for the first time. I am not on any type of birth control but plan on getting it soon. I am set to get my next period in about 5 days and was wondering if it is likely that I am currently fertile? Also, any other helpful information you could tell me about, thank you.

If you used a condom and it didn't break, you're most likely safe. Good decision, as condoms protect you not only from pregnancy, but from diseases.

It's good that you're getting on birth control if you plan to be sexually active.  It's always best, IMO, to have control over the birth control situation, and not have to rely on your partner to provide protection.  If you're not in a monogamous relationship (that is, with one long-term partner), it's still a good idea to use condoms in addition to birth control to prevent exposure to STDs.

Hi there.  Here is the thing, there is NO safe time during your cycle to have sex and not risk pregnancy.  Yes, you risked pregnancy.  You don't know when you exactly did or will ovulate. If you had sex in the past 72 hours I would consider Plan B.  Glad you are getting on birth control!  good luck
