Folic Acid: How much is too much?

by scarrie69, Aug 08, 2007 09:59PM
I have seen several different answers on this. Some refer to mcg measurements, and some refer to milligram measurements. My prenatal vitamin has 800 mcg of Folic Acid included and in addition to it, I take another 800 mcg of Folic Acid. Is this too much?

Thanks!
Carrie

Folic acid has no known toxic level but is recommended that you don't take any more than 1,000 mcg  of synthetic folic acid a day. You do get folic acid in some of the foods you eat also. Have you asked your doctor? I hope this helps.
