Freak of Nature, or Worse?

I didn't know what to put because I'm 14 and not going throught the problems listed. I simply have a question. In fith grade I realized my left labia was enlarge. I thought I'd ignore it, nad the problem would go away. I am embarassed, nad afraid to ask my mom about it. I did once and all I got was a yeast infection pill. I am now a fresh man in highschool, and my left labia is still enlarged(quite a bit). The odd thing is I finally talked to my sister(she lives away from me so we never shared our secret)her left labia is also enlarged. So is my other sisters, and birth mothers. Could it be genetic? My birth mother is a drug addict/alchoholic. Could we have got something coming through the birth canal. I feel ashamed and embarassed. I don't know why this is happening. i am a virgine, so don't know whats up. My sister has developed a rough, sort of calase maybe on the inside of her vagina. She was being bothered so did some "self examination". She too is a virgine. What could be happening. Please I need answers. Has anyone heard of this before?

Thats totally normal. The labia isn't always symetrical on both side. Everyone's "area" looks different. I wouldn't be concerned if I were you. Mine isn't the same on both sides either.

thanks for responding. the odd thing is though, for my sister not me, her's is purple, and kind of veiny. I dunno, hers progressed over time, nad i'm afraid the same thing will happen to me.

There's nothing wrong with your labia - and it will change hue and texture depending on how old you are, what part of your cycle you are in, what you are eating, etc.  A lot of women think their labias are ugly, but they aren't really - *don't* base your idea of what your bits should look like on what you see online, it really isn't like that.

My left side is larger than my right.  I think it has to do with the way I walk and sit, and it doesn't bother me, moreover, my husband is far too busy enjoying the fact that I share my labia with him to start critiquing it's shape and texture - you will find the same is the case when you are old enough to start having sex.  (Which you aren't yet, and ought to hold off a while longer.)

There are no callouses on the inside of a vagina.. but - the surfaces are rough, not soft.  There is a definite texture to the skin on the inside, and that's absolutely healthy.     The ladies here might get upset with me for saying this, but if you lay on your back and feel along the top on the inside, you'll feel a lump under the skin (and if you push on it, you might feel the urge to pee), remember this place, because it is one of the best parts of your anatomy.  Welcome to your g-spot.  I'll let you figure out the rest.

Seriously though, everything you describe is completely normal, and you shouldn't be embarrassed or feel ashamed in any way.  Anyone who tells you different or says anything rude to you doesn't know what the **** they're talking about, and is probably a complete loser anyway, so you tell them where they can go.

Congratulations, you are the proud owner of a healthy vagina. ^_^
