Girl or boy?

I know Ive seen it on here before but I cant remember what was said about trying for a girl or boy? Is it if ur trying for a girl u have to try and baby dance before ovulation or when u realise u are? Also because my AF has gone all over the place what can tell me Im getting ready to ovulate? Lastly has anyone ever tried this out? Has it worked for you?

Please reply this time as no one was interested in my last question :-(

BTW Congrats to the new pregs mums, it seems theres a lot on, and I hope good news will be on its way for those still ttc

Oh I think charting/temping is a a great idea to go along with the opk's, the opk's will tell you when you will ovulate (and when to bd) and the temps will tell you that you definately did. If your charting shows that you aren't ovulating regularly then you can go to your Dr. and find out what's the problem.

Thanks u 2! I know it would be hard to try and get the gender you want, and I believe its what God gives u anyway, but its nice to try! And interesting to know if it can work (I take not if its been discredited!)

What exactly would charting involve? And when should u use the opk? Are they reliable?

Thanks

If your cycle is wacky, why not start charting to see what is going on, and whether or not you are even ovulating.

The Shettles method has been discredited as a way to select a child's gender. You're going to have wait to see what the storks give you! :)

Oh, and about the ovulation question, I would just say to use those opk's. You can get them bulk at saveontests dot com for cheap, that way if your cycle is wacky, it won't kill your wallet,if you kwim?

Pick up the book called "Taking Charge of your Fertility". This is an amazing reference book and will tell you everything you need to know about charting (as well as the Shettles method). Charting is where you take your temperature at the same time every day. Your temperature will change, depending on where you are in your cycle and can tell you when (or if) you have ovulated.

Charting is very helpful in determining if you have any problems with your cycle, including annovulation, a short luteal phase, etc.

I have never used opks myself because they while they do detect an lh surge, that doesn't necessarily mean you are ovulating.

Hi there,

You might want to google the "Shettles Method", that's what you're talking about. I believe you want to bd as close to ovulation as you can to try for a boy. A few days before for a girl. They say that the boy sperm are faster, but die off quicker and girl sperm live longer.

I did not try this because girl or boy, just getting preggers was an accomplishment!

Good luck!
