Group B strep during pregnancy

Could someone tell me what Group B strep is, how it is found and how it is treated during pregnancy?  Is this something that could be harmful to the baby?

I also have a large amount of Group B Strep found recently but I'm not pregnant.  Because it is part of the body flora so I didn't take the penicillin.

In the past, all pap smears were normal.  The current one turn out very nasty CIN 2/3. I posted the result here but no one bother to answer or have a look.  I wonder would it has the connection with Group B Strep?

Another possibility guest, my viginal has a foreign cell attack.  The Strep trys to protect and generate a huge amount of that to fight.  I think I lost in the battle so now my pap smear turn out very bad and serious condition.

briefly, is a common bacteria found in about a quarter percent of women and is not harmful to the mother aprt from when the baby is being born, the baby can contract it and it can cause meningitis etc, so a drip is given during labour to prevent the baby getting it, but apart from that nothing to worry about. i had group b strep and received antibiotics in labour and had a healthy 8ib 4oz beautiful baby girl, hope this helps!
