Ok, with most pills these days you have about a 12 hour leaway in taking them. Some bodies are more sensitive and will start mensturating 4 hrs after a missed pill. The way the pill works is by tricking your body into thinking that it is ovulating, when your eggs are essentially dead. If perhaps your egg is not dead, it also makes your uterus a very unhospitable host for baby making. That being said, if you take your pill a few hours late and have that "oops i forgot to take the pill bleeding" you are likely not pregnant. For a very high percentage of pill users, you wont get pregnant even after stoppin the pill for a month and having unprotected sexBuccal smear Causes of sexual dysfunction Child abuse - sexual Delayed ejaculation Erection problems Female sexual dysfunction Inhibited sexual desire Orgasmic dysfunction Puberty and adolescence Rape Safe sex . Your body needs to re-learn how to be fertile. I honestly dont know anything about home pregnancy tests not working while on the pill. If you are concerned, as always, check with your doctor. They can do a blood test that is like 99.99999% accurate and it will tell you if you are even a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys bit pregnant. The funny bleeding is most likely your body's way of reminding you that you forgot your pill (aka your hormone levels are falling). Good luck.
No, taking BCP's will not interfere with a HPT. It would also be very irresponsible to tell someone that you can miss a months worth of pills and "most pill users" won't get pregnant.
BCP's don't make your eggs "essentially dead", either.
Do a google or Yahoo search on "How birth controlControl Control rx pills work" if you want more info on how pills work. You can also enter in the name of YOUR pill and find out information on how it works.
Most important thing is to take them each day at around the same time. If you do miss one, take it as soon as you remember. You might spotBirthmarks - pigmented Liver spots Measles, koplik spots - close-up Mongolian blue spots from missing one. If you miss more than one pill, look at the patient information that came with your pills or ask your pharmacist for advice as to what to do, as it varies with different types of pills.
Well, then I've got two VERY fertile friends. My best friend got pg on the pill- she admits that she was late taking two of them. Another friend got pg two weeks after stopping her pills. For the most part, I think you're safe if you take one late, but it's possible to get pg.
Sorry, after rereading what I wrote, it sounded a bit misleading. NO- don't go off your pills and expect not to get pregnant. I was just implying that the pills alter your body quite drastically, and the likeliness of you getting pregnant after one missed pill is not high. But there are many documented cases of people actually getting pregnant on the pill and getting pregnant after missing one pill. So do get checked. To me it sounds like you just missed a pill and got the usual spotting that goes along with it, but just to be sure, do a HPT.
I was one of the few that went off the pill and got pregnant right away...so it happens, but I was on the pill for 8 years and I missed pills and took them several hours later when I remember and sometimes I even had to double up the next day and I also took antibiotics as well and NEVER got pregnant then. But everybody is different.
Oh and I forgot that the time I decided to quit taking them I was stupid and stopped them in the middle of my cycle and I as soon as I got off of them I had breakthrough bleeding and I thought something was wrong, but it was my body adjusting to me getting off the pill, but I here that it is normal for people to get that if they miss a pill. I have heard that the pill doesn't affect the HPT though.
Thanks everyone for your posts, i appreciate it. I went ahead and took a HPT and it was negative. Thank you Jesus! Thanks again for the advice. I felt alot better after reading everything and the test. I also re-read the pamplet for reassurance.
