HPV Negative...but doctor won't believe test!?

So I went and had my bump checked out...I had a test, and it came back negative for HPV.  But the doctor was like, well the test is negative but I still think you have HPV.  WHAT THE H*LL?  So she gave me Aldara...to put on every other day.  I've put it on 5 times...and nothing has happened.  There is no change in the bump at all.   I'm calling another doctor to get a second opinion...but I would just like some thoughts and/or opinions on this nightmare.

A second opinion coulnd't hurt, but I would have to assume that the result is more accurate than the doctor's observation. Stranger things have happened though.

Hope all turns out well.

how long have you had it? I dont recall you saying it hurt, and normally from what I have heard herpes hurts really bad....

the bump I had, broke open, sorry really nasty, but it was filled with puss, and then instantly was gone, like it had never been there before....

Did you have the blood test for HSV? I think I would get a second opinion, the whole purpose for lab tests is for an unquestionable(or most of the time) answer.........good luck, keep me updated.I go to the dr. myself monday....havent done my blood test yet...im gonna ask her what she thinks the bump was, and then I will get lab results in a few weeks i guess. Good luck

To afraidnalone....HPV is not the same as HSV.  HPV is thought to cause genital warts.
I didn't know there was a cream for HPV?!  A second opinion wouldn't hurt.  I don't know much about HPV.  Sorry just had to clarify the HPV HSV thing.

A thought... I had two bumps next two each other.  I went to two doctors that gave me various medications, saying it was HPV.  When they did not go away, I went to a third doctor... and he biopsied the bumps instead.  They came back not as HPV but as some kind of dermatitis or something.  Once they were removed I had no more issues.  The biopsy was painless as they numbed the area and it healed very quickly.

My doctor told me, when in doubt biopsy it and know for sure.
