HPV and abnormal Cells I am scared! Advice to come me down?

Hi I am 20 Years old with 2 toddlers. I had my pap done and then was negative and they said I had HPV...After the result of the colopscopy they said I will have to have one every 6 months because it is a low risk there is nothing to do but wait and see if my immune system will fight it off...Cancer in my family is VERY high. I am so scared it is going to turn into cervical cancer. I need to talk to someone that has gone through this deaL before so maybe I will not be so scared. PLEASE! And the Biopsys that they took from my cervics really hurt not just pinch like they said but they made me cry hurt. I am just really scared and I am stressed already to much from being away from my family I don't want to get depressed from all this if it isn't anything to worry about??? THANKS

I am 19 years old and when I had my first pap at age 15 I have HPV. they did that thing where they clip a piece out and it hurt so bad I cried for an hour.  Then I did the thing where it felt like they were burning my insides, it went away up until a year and a half ago. They told my it laid dormit, and ever since i have been going back every three months for that burning thing. I have had abnormal cells developing for 4 years and they cant get it to go away. I have no idea what they plan on doing.  I just now started to realize how serious this is and I am really scared i will get cervical cancer.  I keep waiting for the call that says im ok and i keep getting the wrong answer.  Every day i get more scared i am only 19 years old and I have my whole life infront of me.  I guess we all just get scared when our life feels as though its going to get cut short.

I have had the same problem for the past 5 years. My first pap came back abnormal with hpv effect. I had the c-scope and a small biopsy done. I had my  follow up paps every 3 months for the next year. All was well. So, I waited 3 years till my next pap was due. It was back. So, I had the c-scope done again. My follow up after that came back normal. Then my second follow up 6 months later came back abnormal. This time a bigger a cone biopsy was done along with the leep. The biopsy showed the beginning stages of cervil cancer cells. my doctor called them precancerous cells. After the leep was done I was cleared for the next 9 months and counting. Make sure you never miss an appt. and asks as many questions as you can think of. I never really asked any. I just listened and said o.k. That included when my doctor said I had so much scar tissue that I couldn't get pregnant without having it removed first. Well, 2 months later I found out I was 1 month pregnant. The only side affect I had from all the procedures was my uterus could not release all the blood for my monthly cycle. I had a procedure to scrape it out and was fine until I got pregnant.

I too have HPV and had to have the burning and a colposcopy and a LEEP where they had to remove a part of my cervix.  I was RIGHT AT cervical cancer.  This was back in 2001 and I have had normal paps ever since.  Good Luck I know it is scary but it sounds like they caught it all in time.  Now NEVER miss a pap appt always stay reg with them.  I am sure all will work out for you now.  Do not worry about not having more kids or any kids cuz they will watch you closely.

I had a Class III Pap come back and then the biopsy and Cyrosurgery. It was very painful but now have had good Paps for the past 10 years. I was 24 at the time.. I went on to have my fifth child after this and just wanted to warn anyone who has had these procedures and then gets pregnant.. I was in labor for literally a week. 2 days of which was in the hospital on a PIT drip and only dialted to 1 cm. It was mindboggling til they brought in a Specialist. Two seconds into the exam he asked if I had ever had any cervical procedures. Yes.. Well there was scar tissue built up and he removed it with a very simple snip and I was dialted to 10 cm. within 10 minutes!! So ladies, make sure that everyone is aware if ever in a simular situation.
I know this is only sort of related to the original posters question, I just worry that she and others will go on to have children and end up in the same boat. --J

I also have hpv -both strains that cause cervical cancer (18, and 20).  I guess that means I have a double whammy.  Any way I've been with the same sexual partner for 15 years, so I had to of AT LEAST contracted it 15 years ago and so far I'm still a-ok.  I was totally freaked too (I have a 2 yr old daughter).  But after some research, I've calmed down a lot.  LOTS of people have hpv, and most never develop cervical cancer.  My body has not fought the virus off in 15 years, and I still don't have it.  Smoking increases your chances that cervical cancer will develop.  If you smoke- quit.

no, she just did a normal pap for me, i didnt have flat out cell mutation, just irregular squamos cells. i asked pleny of questions though, i was nervous. but like my gp told me, they have come leaps and bounds in catching and preventing further development of cell mutations. most of the time they will remove the section of the cervical tissue containing the mutated cells and that fixes the problem for the time being and usually prevents further mutations, regular check ups are very important. i hope someone with more information can help you. good luck.

i tested positive for low risk hpv about 6 months ago. i freaked out and cried all the way to my gps office, i talked to him and he calmed me down a lot. i had a follow up three months later and havent heard anything since. my gyn said she would contact me if i needed to have further testing done, but for now im just waiting for my next annual check up. i know how scary it is, one of my best friends has also just tested positive and has to have a biopsy done. ill tell you what i told her, try not to stress about it. i understand that you are worried because of your higher cancer risk associated with genetics, but just try not to work yourself up. if your doctor doesnt seem too worried, thats a good sign. remember that when hpv is caught early it is a lot easier to deal with and they can catch and remove cancerous cells very quickly with regular check ups. i hope that everything goes ok for you, my thoughts will be with you.
