My question to anyone that has had a hysterectomyHysterectomy Hysterectomy - series in there 30's. I was diagnose with 4 fibroidsFibroid tumors Uterine fibroids in my uterus when I was 6weeks pregnant. I had to be bed rested for the remainder of my pregnancy. Which I didn't obey that much, but at 26 weeks of my pregnancy I started having contractionsFetal heart and uterine contraction monitor Fetal heart monitoring Tension headache. They were finally stop with medications, monitoring by staying 2 days in the hospital. I finally came to full term of my pragnancy and had my beautiful healthy baby boy. Six weeks later for my 6 weeks check-up with my OBGYN. I explained that I had felt 2 lumpsLumps in the breasts on my left breast. which thay later removed by surgery and biopsy of the lumpsLumps in the breasts were benig (not cancerous). still to all this happening to me I had terrible abdominal pain due to my fibroidsFibroid tumors Uterine fibroids. My periods were sometimes longer or shorter and very, very paiful ones. The OBGYN and I discuss hysterectomy. I'm totally new to this and I would like to research it more. Is there any other ways not to remove my uterus??? I really don't want all these side affects to affect me at early age of 33. Thanks, :o) BY queenie4
I am also 33 with Fibroids. My Dr. and I have also spoken about a hysterectomy and he absolutely refuses to do one at my age. Both my Mother and Grandmother had to have them at early ages due to Fibroids but he's insistent upon me keeping my uterus as long as possible to avoid the side effects. Are you still on Birth control? Birth Control will cause these things to grow and be more irritable due to the hormones - hormones tend to "feed" the fibroids. This is just one suggestion to help deal with having them & not having to face the inevitable too soon.
I had one fairly small fibroid that was only discovered during pregnancy. My doctors were very relaxed as they assumed it only flared up because of hormone overload and would subside after childbirth. They said unless a fibroid becomes huge, there is no reason for removal and for sure not for hysterectomy and really not during child bearing years like...33.
If you google "alternatives hysterectomy" you will find a lot of helpful information. Hysterectomies used to be a money maker and even when my mom got hers removed at 65, just because of fibroids, she was told it ws just for her own comfort so she would not have to deal with the fibroids. There was no real medical indication. She regretted it for a little while because it does take time to heal but is now fine. I would regret it a lot because the uterus is a sexual organ that provides some pleasure after all but if you really have to go through this one fine day, make sure that your ovaries remain in place. Otherwise your hormones will be a mess forever.
So, 33? Avoid it!
I am 26 years old. I had an emergency hystorectomy during an emergency c-section when I was 25. My doctor left one ovary and took EVERYTHING else. Since he left one ovary I did not go through menopause or have any side-effects. We were done having kids so it was not too hard on me emotionally. Talk to your Dr. about leaving one ovary.... maybe that is possible with your condition.
When I was 22, in Europe, I developed excruciating pain -so bad I would almost faint. The first doctor found a 10+ cm fibroid in the uterus and wanted to do a hysterectomy. I went back to Australia, saw another Dr and he recommended a uterine myomectomy - the fibriod is cut out but leaves the uterus intact. The surgery was done and a 14x12x12 cm fibroid cut out. Thanks to that Dr, I now have two terrific children conceived naturally. One drawback was that I could only have a c-section as the strain on the uterus with labour may have ruptured it. It was a small price to pay as I was still able to have children.
Talk with your Dr about a myomectomy or "shelling the uterus", a hysterctomy should be the last resort and not convenient for the Dr
I WANT TO THANK EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU WHO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS ABOUT HYSTERECTOMY! IT IS A VERY HARD SUBJECT TO DEAL WITH. DUE TO THAT IT IS A BIG PROBLEM IN WOMEN AND LIKE WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH PROBLEMS WITH OUR BODIES ALREADY. BUT IT IS ONE MORE THING WE REALLY NEED TO THINK ABOUT AND RESEACH VERY CLOSELY. IT'S OUR BODY AND WE HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF IT.
TO ANSWER SOME OF YOUR QUESTIONS: I HAVE NEVER IN MY ENTIRE LIFE HAVE HAD ANY BIRTH CONTROL PILLS. WHY MY HORMONES WERE OUT OF CONTROL??? I'M PROBABLY ONE OF THOSE RARE CASES????
HERE IS AN UPDATE ON MY SITUATION.
I HAVE TALKRD WITH MY OBGYN DOCTOR AND SHE HAS EXPLAINED SOME OPTIONS FOR ME. SHE HAS ALSO SUGGESTED A "UTERINE MYOMECTOMY". LIKE SOMEONE HAD SUGGESTED EARLIER. SHE KNOWS THAT I HAVE BEEN A TROOPER ABOUT THE PAIN AND DOESN'T WANT TO REMOVE ANY OF MY OBVARIES. UNLESS DURING SURGERY SHE SEE'S SOMETHING ABNORMAL. SHE SAYS I'M TO YOUNG FOR THOSE SIDE AFFECTS TO BE AFFECTING AT THIS AGE. THAT IS HER MAIN GOAL. I KNOW MY OBGYN IS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY SHE CARES FOR MY WELL BEEING. SHE HAS ADDRESS THAT EACH AND EVERYTIME WE TALKED. I HAVE A DECCISON TO MAKE. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOU SUPPORT.... :o) QUEENIE4

Hey guys... i'm 26 and just had a partial hysterectomy. Mine was mostly for a total pelvic organ prolapse. We were done having children, so it was fine with me. It's nice to be able to pee again normally. Good luck to you all.
I am 34 years old and had a hysterectomy 5 days ago since them i seem to be recovering very well it was a vaginal laprascopy assisted total hysterectomy only problem i have had since is extremely painful bowel movements. I am passing gas and using the bathroom but tis so painful i literally have to hold on to something with both hands and breath like i'm giving birth....only other problem i've had is lower back pain which does concern me cuz i dunno if its from the surgery or something else all together...I'd appreciate any advice i can get.
