I'm so glad I found this site! I firstFirst progesterone mc10 First progesterone mc5 First-progesterone vgs 100 First-progesterone vgs 200 First-progesterone vgs 25 First-progesterone vgs 400 First-progesterone vgs 50 First-testosterone First-testosterone mc came across a thread about womenWomen's way who were losing hair after STOPPING BC, and tho its nice to know I'm not the only one suffering from hairloss, its still sadDepression to know that I couldn't find much on hairloss after starting BC. All my life I've had long, thick, healthy looking hair. I got nothing but compliments about it! At the end of February of this year, I started BC pills for the firstFirst progesterone mc10 First progesterone mc5 First-progesterone vgs 100 First-progesterone vgs 200 First-progesterone vgs 25 First-progesterone vgs 400 First-progesterone vgs 50 First-testosterone First-testosterone mc time; OrthoTri LO. I had been on the patchAllergy testing Skin color - patchy and the ring for short stints in the past, but never followed through with them for more than a month or 2. About 2 weeks ago, or roughly 2 months after starting BC, I noticed only the very frontal hairline becoming very thin with MANY hairs missing from where there looks like hair should be. I can't say I really noticed hairloss out of the ordinary, and tho I still don't think I'm losing an abnormal amount, my hair has become SO thin - almost translucent - and sparse. I'm only 24, and this is freaking me out! I called my Dr (who's also an OB/GYN) up as soon as I realized my hair was thinning, but she was adiment that it wasn't because of the BC. She had me come in to run blood tests on my thyroid, all of which came back totally normalNormal saline flush. I'm seeing a family friend who's also a derm this weekend, and I'm hoping he can help give me some solid information. I am absolutely obsessing about my hairloss. I check my hair line all throughout the day, seeing new areas that don't have hair, or 'noticing' more thinning...I'm beginning to think a lot of this is all in my head! You can see my entire scalp through my hair, and not only because of some balding, but just because the strands are so thin. I'm really hoping this is because of the BC...I've had absolutely no other new introductions into my body BUT the BC, I have no new & sudden stress, and I've never had a problem with hairloss or thinning before. I've begun taking vitamins for hair/skin/nails everyday for the last week and a half, but I haven't noticed any noticable improvement. The only positive thing I can see is that I do have tiny little baby hairs popping up here and there throughout my scalp, but I fear they'll come up thin too oe just plain fall out quickly.
I'm sorry this is so long, but I'm so just so incredibly scared of losing my hair! What woman isn't?! I'm having to avoid certain hairstyles so my thinning doesn't show, and now that I've realized the loss, I feel like now everyone who approaches me notices too. Not to mention, the borderline compulsion to check my hair has become a distraction to living at least manageable days. Please, someone tell me I'm not alone, or give me more insight to the BC=hairloss subject. I don't mind being bald, just not at this point of my life!
