Hard Lump Under Skin In Pubic Area

I have a hard, pea sized lump under the skin in my pubic area (less than 1/2 inch above clitoris and slightly to the left).  It's not visible at all and can only be felt by touch - I first noticed it about 1 1/2 months ago.  Went to my obgyn and she quickly told me it seems like an ingrown hair and I should put warm compresses on it.  She even said it looked like a white head was coming up.  Well, the compresses didn't work.  I never was able to see any kind of white head and to this day still don't after close inspection.  I honestly really don't think it's an ingrown hair, especially since I don't shave in that area.  The lump is still about the same size.  Also, I've experienced quite frequent itching in my pubic area for some time, even before the lump appeared.  Unfortunately I forgot to mention that to my doc.  So, now I am a little worried since when you search the net for these specific sympotms you either find very scary info on cancer or not much relevant info at all.  Has anyone out there experienced this or knows someone who has?  Most likely I will end up going back to the obgyn for a second opinion, but with one of the other docs.  Thanks in advance for any info you guys might be able to provide.

Hi healthnut87.  Do you have this situation?  Things that I've heard of include an infected cyst, a regular cyst as well.  I had this and needed antibiotics.  Tell us more and we'll try to help

I have literally the exact same thing, in the same spot.
A little above the clitoris, and to the left, close to the end of the labia area, beginning of the pelvic mound. Still in the "pink part" of the vulva but near the skin toned portion.
Its about the size of a pea, not irritated, not visible, but can easily be felt when touched.
Rolls under the skin, but only moves the teeniest bit, so its not free floating. Feels deeper under the tissue than just surface, but not deep enough to be completley beneath the tissue over the pelvic bone.
A little bit of itching occurs.
However, i have had it for a month and when i wiped after peeing i noticed a tiny bit of blood and pressed really hard on it and the smallest amount of yellow pus and blood came out with a very small chunk of hard matter, off white-ish in color.
There was no "white head" on it either.
After that i have had a small hole on the bump, but it is still rock hard and the same size as before with the same symptoms.
I haven't run a razor or anything over that area because no hair grows there, so for it to be an ingrown hair is extremely unlikely and would have softened  and surfaced fully by now.
I have been checked for all stds semi recently and have not been sexually active since well before And after testing with all negative results.
I'm inclined to think it is maybe a calcium deposit that had a cyst around it.
Or it may be a blocked gland considering it is in the same area as the other teeny tiny glands that surround that area of the vulva, i don't know if you have ever noticed them, but everyone has them and can only be seen when that area of tissue is pulled back or stretched.
If you have found out what it is exactly please let me know.

I think I have something similar. It's between the inside of my thigh where the joint is at and my pubic area. It's roughly the size of a marble and feels like one, too. It aches a little bit whenever I stand, and hurts only slightly worse when I touch it. I mean, the pain is bearable, but it makes me wonder. I thought it was an ingrown hair at first, but now I am not so sure since it is a bit deeper than an ingrown hair would be and nothing happened when I messed with it besides a slight ache. I had a cat once who had a tumor on his neck, and it feels just like that. So, I am going to keep an eye on it in case it gets bigger. The problem is, when I went searching for the problem, it would only being up soft tissue sarcoma, a type of cancer. It said that soft tissue sarcoma can either grow or stay the same. I don't want to go to the doctor unless it is something serious and not something like an ingrown hair (which I don't think it is) or a knot beneath the skin. Like you, I was only able to find it by touch. The skin above it looks like the skin everywhere else. It isn't red or any other color, just the tan of the rest of my body. So, I would like to know what this is before I go to the hospital. If anyone knows, that would be great.

Hey there.  Sorry you are dealing with that.  Have you been to a doctor to have it looked at?  It could be an infected cyst.  You may need antibiotics.  I'd get it looked at.  Let us know what happens!

Hi EllaBella07.
Hope you are doing ok?
I know that this is an old post, but I was wondering if they ever found out what was going on? I'm 25, with the same problem; round lump under the skin of the mons pubis, no pain just a little disconfort. Also terrible vulval itching. I have had this for two years. Any advice/information you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

I have what sounds to be identical symptoms. I thought I had herpes but was tested and it came back negative. I have terrible itching and then suddenly I got 2 bumps which appear to be cysts. I've had small cysts before when I was younger but not the itching as well. The cysts won't pop but have shrunk a little after using different things. I have used oil or oregano and coconut oil, a drawing salve, and tea tree oil. But nothing touches the itching, its brutal! Did you find anything out recently about yours?

8.initially there was a lead pencil perched like mark on thigh,(about 4 weeks later)suddenly grew, then shrink,I scratched found hard shell inside.

Sebaceous cyst. It will last for years. I have been using tea tree oil. That seems to help bring it to a head. Still a long process though.

First off,Like someone else mentioned not everybody here is descibing the same thing. Some talk about a red lump, some with a white head, some about something that feels like ingrown hair.
I think i have the same thing. It feels like a lump.althought not round. It is in the pubic area under the skin(not right under,,seems deeper). To the left and a little higher than the clitoris. It is not visible in any way and it can only be felt. It feels like it can be moved under the skin but maybe it's just the skin moving around i don't know. It doesn't hurt on it's own( although i think a couple of times after a period i felt an irritation). If i do try to squeeze it hard it kinda hurts. I have it for a long time(longer than i want to admit). It is still here and i'm freaking out lately. The logical thing to do is go to a doctor but i'm terrified that it's going to be something bad. I'm generaly terrified of the gynecologist and have been only once a few years back. I can't seem to find the courage to go. I have searched so many times and i can't say i have found something more relevant than this here. But there's hasn't been a satisfying answer. I can't stress enough how terrified i am. The last days i'm getting mini panick attacks and i'm crying...

i came on here to find answers about my bump. What did yours end up being? Did you go to the Dr?
Did you ever find out what it is???
Did you ever find out what the lump under the skin is? I'm a 25 year old woman with the same thing, and quite nervous about it. It's round, moveable and painless. Also have general vulval itching. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

These are most likely nothing more than calcium deposits, while they are annoying and can be embarrassing, they are not harmful in any way. A dermatologist can lance these and get the hardened calcium out. Sometimes they will go away on their own, sometimes they will remain there for years. Generally if you squeeze them you will be able to feel the mass moving or even breaking up but for the most part, once it is there it will return until it is taken care of by a professional.

This condition is lymphadenopathy. Those lumps under ur skin are your lymph nodes. they are found generally under your armpits and where the thigh meets ur groin.  If u have multiple tender , enlared, soft, smooth lymph nodes they are due to a bactiria or viral infection or you might have a urinal infection. If the lymph noids are hard and irregular go see a doctor as these syptoms are more sinnester.

I have been having the same problems, but not anymore. I simply avoided using strong soaps in that area.  I also refrained from using feminine powders which I believe helped a lot. Also, make certain you rinse well after cleansing, pat dry gently and do not bother the knot or bump. Simply leave it alone.   Avoid underwares with dyes in them or wearing rough material while the bump or knot is present.   I hope this information helped.

Oh, I can't leave this out - Pray and ask God to heal the root cause of the problem, believe it is done no matter what and never take it back!

Everyone needs to read the 1st post because some of you are saying you have the same thing when really you don't. The first post says "It's not visible at all and can only be feIt by touch" and some of you are saying you have the same thing "It is about the size of a pea, appears red and swollen, but doesn't cause pain" I'm sorry but THIS IS NOT THE SAME THING!!!!!!! and all you are doing is making it more difficult for people to answer the med help member's question!! Please Read more carefully before you post to someone else's question!!! TY

I am 23 years old, and I have the same problem, it is a lump in the pubic area, on my left side, it is about the size of a nickel, and it doesnt hurt at all unless i touch it. It isnt even visible. I have never gotten this before and im not sure if i should panic. I do shave, and im thinking it could be an ingrown hair, but i also noticed some itching so im not sure what it could be. I tried hot compresses and that didnt work. Im worried. HELP! Ive had it for almost two weeks, what should I do? I also think i should mention that when i touch it, it feels as if there was some type of liquid inside of it. It feels as it is about to explode, and thats what makes the lump hard. :( Help!

I am 23 years old and had the same type of lump arise. It is about the size of a pea, appears red and swollen, but doesn't cause pain. Luckily, one of my best friends is an ob/gyn. She said it's a cysts of the sebacious glands that sometimes arise in the pubic area. Sometimes they will grow rapidly and fill with fluid. There is no cause for concern unless the swelling continues to the point where it's uncomfortable. You can have it removed as an outpatient surgery but there's really no need unless you just can't stand it. They usually go away within a few weeks and appear right before or after menstruation. However, some can stay for years. I hope this helps, but I would suggest anyone with these related symptoms still consult a physician or ob/gyn just to be on the safe side.

I discovered a bump just like you all desribe. It is in the pubic area, a little bigger than a pea size, and hard, painful if I push on it. I didnt know what it was at first, and after reading this forum, I remembered that awhile back I got something similar on my left breast, on the underside where my bra sits. It was a reddish bump, and hard under the skin. It turned out to be a calcium deposit because I had recently started taking vitamin D. It went away after a few months but did leave a scar. This new lump feels similar. It also represents a form of acne called Hidradenitis suppurativa. Its common in the groin area. If your doctor tells you its nothing, dont worry too much, I would leave it alone because agitation to this type of things could cause infection.

Omg. Thank you.  I’ve been getting these terribly. I have been talking vitamin D supplements. That explains it. Thanks again.

I've had something similar for two years -- small lump, no pain. Was initially told it was an enlarged lymph node. Most recently, a new doctor told me that it's a sebaceous cyst, and no cause for alarm.
