Help, 8 YOU daughter with UTI, yellow discharge and itching!

So about a month ago my 8yo came to me saying it stung when she went pee, I looked at her down there it appeared she wasn't wiping well, I put her in the bath and monitored her bathing/ wiping for several days, as I monitored her wiping I noticed a bright yellow discharge on the baby wipe and shortly after she complained of belly pain , she was awaiting to be seen by her doctor while all this unfolded, finally she's seen at her primary care and they took a urine culture and told us it was a UTI and prescribed amoxicillin for 1 week.. during the week she was on amoxicillin her abdominal pain faded away and the discharge stoped but she had already had an awful upper respitory infection and due to a sore throat and weird rash on face we were in the ER the following night where she tested positive for strep and had another urine culture done. Then she had a follow up urine culture aflyer 7 days of amoxicillin and her urine was perfect! I thought we were finally out of the woods with this and 1 week after being off the antibiotic the discharge returned with a vengeance worse then it ever was before and even appeared to have a green hue like snot to it. We were back at her doctors late last week where I expressed how concerned I was and the doctor did an exam of her down there and said she was red and irritated and said it looks like vulvavaginitis and she thinks she may have a yeast infection due to the antibiotic? She ran a urine culture which had white blood cells but no specific bacteria or UTI and she was put on a 5 day antibiotic for yeast and here we are 7 days later, the discharge is almost non existent but I can still see some in her underwear .. I'm freaking out now.. what is going on?!? We are awaiting for a new appointment in two days because I just don't understand how an 8 year old has bright yellow discharge,  irritation aND UTI symptoms for almost a month now. I'm really stressing out :( hoping to get some answers between now and her next doctors appointment. Thank you

Late last week they did 2 swabs , one for yeast,  another for bacteria.. everything cane back normal, no bacteria atall. They sent the samples to the lab and grew culture over the weekend and nothing. This is great news but still frustrating, they diagnosed her with recurrent nonspecific vaginits and are maicing me instructions on things to eliminate and do to "cure" it. Our next step afterwords is some topical cream if all else fails. However I will say her doctor said last week to eliminate all dairy for 2 weeks  (at the time this all started after she drank milk or ate cheese and yogurt her tummy killed and she became gassy and had gurgling stomach) so 5 days ago we eliminated all dairy from her diet, and low and behold .. not a single spec of discharge while wiping OR in her underwear.. not sure if there's a connection there but her belly aches and gas have also gone away .. so we will most likely continue with her dairy free and look into allergy testing for this !

She's been having dairy intolerance symptoms so I stoped the yogurt but I've had her on a probiotic for 3 weeks now. She had her appointment this morning , they stabbed for bacteria and yeast, we should hear back by Monday at the latest.

Definitely give her some yogurt or probiotics to help rebalance her system after all this antibiotics! Should help some.

Sounds a lot lol a yeast infection, if it doesn't clear up I would see if they can do some sort of test to make sure nothing is underlying.

I know she is only 8 but wouldn't some discharge be normal?  Is she complaining of discomfort, itch, etc.?  If not, give this a bit of time.  Maybe add some probiotics into the mix in yogurt or the new drinks they have that are a bit like a smoothie.  What they will probably do if she continues to have UTI's is check her ureters and kidneys.  My niece had frequent UTI's and she turned out to actually have a third kidney.  More common than you think and the third kidney led to frequent UTI's. she had it removed at about 8 years old.  Anyway, I know it is worrisome as a mother but you've covered all your bases with teaching her proper hygienic wiping, treating infections, seeing the doctor.  Give it a bit to see if it resolves and if not, look deeper for the cause. good luck an let us know how it goes!

The discharge is bright yellow and sometimes has a green hue to it .. I'm not sure that's normal especially in a prepubesent girl but I'm no doctor so I have no clue what would be normal and what wouldn't be. She does complain of being itchy / uncomfortable and has even complained of pain when she pees STILL even though culture has confirmed she no longer has a UTI..  her doctor this last time suspected she had a yeast infection due to antibiotics but this just doesn't seem like the symptoms of a UTI. I really hope we can get some answers in two days at her next appointment  for my own sanity
