Help Please!

Hi All. I am 39 years old. I had my first child in June 2011 at age 38. Since then, I have been experiencing many weird health symptoms. The weirdest symptom I experience is this weird rush/surge sensation in my chest which occurs at random times for no apparent reason and only lasts a second or two. Very scary! I am extremely fatigued and irritable. I sometimes feel like my body is going to shut off. I occasionally have heart palpitations and random chest pain. My muscles also hurt frequently. I am so irritable and full of anger that I actually feel sorry for my family. I have seen a cardiologist, a hematologist, 2 gynocologists, a neurologist, and a gastroenterologist. I still have no answers. I have tried many medications for anxiety which seem not to work. I take metoprolol for high blood pressure. It was suggested by my OB/GYN that i try birth control, which kind of scares me. Could this be hormonal? Any suggestions?

Omg...I am 37 yrs. old and just started to feel the same way latter part of May 25, 2012.  Still today i get this and what my doctor has told me that thru age...we women from age 30's thru our 40's go thru this.  I've had my blood work done and everything came back fine.  All those symptoms, sensations, etc to what i was told was a anxieties.  I believe it has something to do w/age and hormones if we are not already stressed out daily about life etc.  Good Luck...i hope you have a great support group and routine you enjoy doing such as exercise etc.  Not to mention herbal tea (caffeine free) also helps.

Sounds like postpartum thyroiditis,   which is a hyperthryoid condition that happens after a pregnancy.

In this article,  this paragraph pretty much sums it up,  but there's lots more good information in the article:

Symptoms during the hyperthyroid phase of postpartum thyroiditis are usually milder versions of general hyperthyroidism symptoms, including anxiety, muscle weakness, irritability, heart palpitations, fast heartbeat, tremor, weight loss, and diarrhea.

Testing for thyroid abnormalities is EXTREMELY tricky,  and doctors will often say they tested for that and were able to rule it out,  In fact,  you could be high normal in one hormone,  and low normal in another,  and feel completely out of whack - it's the endocrine hormones in balance that matter,  often not the basic numbers of each test.  Best wishes.
