Help with period please!

Hello I would really appreciate it if you could help me, I am planning on seeing a doctor, but my mom and I are trying to look for a good one, and meanwhile I'm just trying to do a little research and get an idea of whats going on ok so I have missed 4 periods, I have always been irregular, it had been regular for 6 months and then it just stopped so im worried but there has also been some other symptoms like 3 weeks ago I got a spot of brown-red, more red so I assumed it was my period but nothing else besides that spot and a few really very small brown tiny spots came for like less that half a day so I'm guessing that wasn't my period right? And then I had tender breasts for a week they didn't hurt they just felt tender, then I had nauceas for like 1 minute 4 weeks ago or it might have been 2 months ago or something like that and then I'm getting like these nauceas sort off it's similar to that feeling when you are nervous I think, they aren't exactly nauceas but anyways I'm freaked, nervous and confused, I also have a line or crack in the middle of my nipple, and I'm not sexually active so I find all this very strange, please help!! lindsay

Lindsay,
How old are you?
You said your periods were normal for 6 months and then stopped. Have you only had a period for less than a year? If this is the case then maybe your body is just basically trying to figure out what the heck it's doing. Young girls also may have periods but don't ovulate. This can also make things out of whack. My daughter has the opposite problem from you. She is 16 and started her period at 13. The first one or two were normal and then she just didn't stop having it. I know it's scary but getting in to see a doctor is very important, but make sure to let them know that you are not sexually active as this information may change how they treat you. Such as a PAP may not be necessary. My daughter also found it VERY important to have a female doctor. Let your mom know if you feel the same. Try not to worry so much. There are so many ways that they can treat these types of problems and will most likely recommend that you go on the Pill to regulate your cycles and jump start your period. Make sure to keep talking to your mom, it sounds like you have a good relationship with her and that is TERRIFIC!
Good luck and let us know how you are doing!

When I first started my period I was way out of wack, and now 8 years later am still way out of wack.  There are several things that it could be.  In the beginning it could be your body is just regulating to the change.  However it is always best to seek a dr. who is good and has great feedback from other patients.  I had read on another topic about a Cleveland Clinic, it couldn't hurt to check it out.(It's not just in Cleveland either.) *Ashley
