Hooded Clitoris

I am 48 & had TAHBSO @ age 37. As young as 15 I remember severe episodes of clitoral pain. I was not sexually active with myself or anyone else until age 19. I have seen 3 female doctors who were freaked out to see my clitoris w/ purple blood blisters. Now since my total hysterectomy I suffer severe vag dryness, vulvar irritation & itching along w/ white patches of skin down each side of outer vulvar area that looks like scarring BUT the worst is my clitoris is TOTALLY HOODED & my sexual desire is null & void. WHen I try to gently pull on it I feel a ripping w/ severe pain for several days & it does not even open it. Is there any way to get my clitoris unhooded...I am desperate. TYVM!!! Suzanne

Hi I can help with the hysterectomy related parts of your questions , then Im going to transfere your post to womans health, hooded clitoris is not related to hysterectomy either as cause or side effect and Im not qualified to answer that part of your question, as its not something related to hyster, Id like to see if you could get some help with it though cause it sounds painful.

As for the vaginal dryness, common after a hysterectomy try using a lubrication product like K-Y ask your Drs opinion on this. Most need it especially before sex. When you get on some bio-identical hormones you may still be a bit dry and have a lower sex drive but for the vast majority of women when they find the proper bio-identical ( please no old school premarine bio is sooooo much better) combo of hrt they feel much better.

I really think you need to see you gyno asap, some of the symptoms you describe are not common at all from hysterectomy, I am certain your condition can be helped. As for the white scale description that is something I think the Dr should see right away, in the meantime, no perfumed soaps, no douching, Id hold off on sex, try not to wear tight jeans, or any tight pants/that may rub labia major.
If you have any questions related to the hysterectomy 0r hormone replacement therapy pm me or repost on here,

Now Im reposting this on womans health.I am not sure but I would give a educated guess that the hooded clit would need some surgical repair.

good luck. hang in there,

hugs

I found the information on this site. Maybe it will be helpful

I have been reading about a hooded clitoris. all women have some skin around that area but just like some uncircumcised men have more foreskin then others so is the case with some women. for most the skin retracts when pulled back or when stimulated and clitoris is enlarged. but some women have whats called a  hooded clitoris and basically the skin covers the clit partially or totally and sometimes the hood actually covers the entire clitoris and can not just be attached at the top the clitoris but attaches further down which makes it difficult for the clitoris to be exposed during pleasure and it acts as a barrier causing little to sometimes no sensation.  you should consult a gynecologist regarding the matter. you are not abnormal..this is the case of many women. our bodies are all different...some have larger labia then others, some have smaller or larger clitoris then others and some clitoris's are more covered by the hood. if this is a problem to you and it cannot be retracted on it's own there even is a surgery called female circumcision. litoral circumcision:  Refers to the surgical procedure in which the hood of the females clitoris (called the clitoral prepuce) is removed. However, the term is often confused in modern day writings with ritual procedures performed in Egypt and in other countries where the actual clitoris is partially or fully removed. this is not the case.
this site provides some great info

I have always had a problem with mine. When I wasnt on the birthcontrol pill and had periods it would hurt i suppose because it was dry. I remember going to the gyno and them saying nothing was wrong and nothing to do with it being hooded, but come to think of it I know mine looks partially hooded.

It hurts when being touched and it takes about 20min of oral sex for it to feel good.
