Horrible reaction to Monistat

I recently had a yeast infection and since I'd had them before and instantly knew what it was, I decided to try Monistat 3 day instead of making a trip to the doctor for the Diflucan, which is what I had done in the past. While I was using it I noticed that over the 3 day period it was getting harder for me to fit the application in and by day 3 I had completely swollen and it felt like it was on fire! The yeast infection is gone now, but I am still swollen and still have slight burning every now and then, not so much painful as it is annoying, and it has been 5 days since I used this product! It's going down a bit, but it seems to be taking its time..anyone know how I might be able to speed the healing process?? Next time I'll just get the Diflucan and avoid all of this!

Don't take this the wrong way, I am experiencing the same awful symptoms, but this post made me laugh for 5 solid minutes. I actually forgot the burning and itching due to my amusement, thank you.

Hi, I just read your comment. I'm living in pain for 3 months after I USED the cream. The doctors can't find the reason for my pain. I'm burning like hell. How you got better? Please let me know!

Many people do use this product successfully including myself.  I'm sorry you've had issues and hope all is better soon.  Sounds like you should see your doctor at this point.  good luck

Oh my God, help. It's 2:45 in the morning and I'm dying. I was using the monistat 3 ovules and now am in the most pain I've ever been in.  I insterted the first ovule, no problem. I'm on night 2 and am NOT completing night 3. I'm so red and sore and itchy and swollen that I now have tiny cuts surrounding my vagina. I've taken benadry, aleve I'm using a cold cloth, it's been 4 hours and I'm still writhing in agony. Strongly want to go to the ER but my insurance expired and doesn't renew until tomorrow. I highly advise you NOT to use this product. I acknowledge it helps a lot of people but risking a reaction like this is not worth it, especially when there are alternatives out there. This product ow literally burning the skin in and around my Fagin's and it hurts like hell. If anyone has any suggestions PLEASE tell me. I'll try ANYTHING at this point.

This sure seems to be a common ration.  I had used Monistat for years and then one day tried the Monistat 1 and was in such immediate pain and I just new one thing.....I had to get that stuff out of me NOW!!!  I got into the shower and tried to keep using my index finger to try to swipe the stuff out....again and again and again.  I tried to get the water up in there too to try and rinse it.  I will never, ever again touch the stuff.  Unfortunately, my 21 yr old daughter just called me....she just had the same reaction.  Something is not right with this stuff for sure.  For relief, truly I believe that you MUST get the stuff out of you. . . .vinegar douche or just water.  Then soak in a bath with a half a carton of baking soaking.  This is soothing.  Next, put in a tampon that you have generously dipped in plain yogurt.  Leave that in for a few hours.  Repeat the soaking and yogurt tampons and you should clear up the reaction and yet infection.  Also take a good probiotic.  Good luck!

When I use Monistat it feels like I've injected myself with acid. I use Gyne-Lotrimin (Clotrimizal) ONLY.  Monistat is the devil, I swear, and that's all stores seem to carry.  I have to drive all over town to find a store that stocks an alternative.  It's all Monistat and it's generic same drug version.  I wish I'd known that there were these forums when it first happened.  Luckily I called my mom!
