How do I cope after surgey....need some support

by QUEENIE4, Mar 21, 2007 12:00AM
I have been in this medical forum a couple of times. I have spill my questions and emotions to everyone. I still need some support. I'm having a myomectomy on 4/2. It is a big surgery fcr me. I know every surgery is risky and can have complications. I think of my family. If something would go wrong? I just don't know? I'm just kinda scared, I guess? I wasen't scared before. I really think about my 8 year old daughter, who has 3million questions for me to answer (she is my baby girl). Then I see my 19month baby boy with his beautiful curly hair and his rosie cheeks asking for momma. I think of my husband and how we have gone thru bad times and good times. He has been here for me at all times. Sorry I'm just rambeling.... Well, I believe it is good to write, type or even say your feelings. Thanks for any one who is reading this....

I'm sorry you are feeling scared. I have had many surgerys and worry before all of them also. Doesn't matter if they are huge or small.
I don't have any advice about what you are getting done, I just wanted to post to offer an ear. I'm sure everything will be fine.
When is your surgery scheduled for?

i would be the same , i know a lady who had it done while pregnant , they made her have the baby at 30 weeks because they were so bad . i was in hospital with her . she gave hewr own blood too in case of transfusion as it was a very high risk of bleeding . they are both fine now baby is now 5 ! however its hard not to worry , i did read your other post but dont know the answer i remember she took about 8 weeks to recover and will ask her how long she waited when i speak to her ! there is agood support network here and a good ramble does us all good so feel free any time and i will always answer if i can x x

You know, what is happening to you is exactly the same I am going thru.....and I've been following your posts, but for some reason I haven't post in them till now. (too airhead.....;))

I have a fibroid too. It will be removed by surgery here soon (possibly begining of April too), the only thing I am waiting for is my pre-op 'sit down' with RE to discuss the options I have and the rest of the tests results they ran on me and hubby. (TTC'ing)

I am not sure if they'll do a myomectomy, a lap, a hysteroscopy or an embolization......., i am not sure either how long is the recovery time for each. I've talked to people that said it only took 3 to 4 days to start walking around and the rest couple of weeks was just being careful.....ya know, not doing anything like exercise and all that....

Some others take longer....i think it also all depends on your body.....mine, thank goodness recovers somewhat fast (DNC day i was went shopping!).....altho i still can't get rid of this damned flu!!!! lol

Thanks for sharing how you feel. I try not to think about it and get all depressed. I know something could go wrong....but i KNOW everything WILL go right! and i am heading in the right direction for BABYLAND!....so, i don't think on the day of the procedure, i think of the results when a morning i take a peestick and comes out with 2 lines.......=))

Hope this helps!

I really appriciate ALL your support. Just reading your comments made me feel better. I totally agree with all of you. I feel like I talked to all of you in a support group, like we were out for coffee. :o)  I know all surgery are risky,
My surgery is date is April 2,07 @12pm. I'm having my Pre-OP appt on March 27,07. It will consist of going to my OBGYN getting checked out make sure I'm not sick with flu,etc...I will then have bloodwork orders and last but not least. Pre-register @ the Hospital. All that in a days work (lol) :o)

To nalla: I know you said that you couldn't offer any advice on my specific myomectomy surgery. To my understanding you've had many surgery's. That is your experience and you made me understand. So, I appreciate it. Thank you. Sometimes any support helps.

To marra: Thank you for comments! My OB explained that I would be out on medical leave for 6-8 wks. One of my co-worker had a myomectomy sched. and end-up getting a partial hysterectomy. Due to: Too much bleeding and she was suppose to come back yesterday. Called us that the doctor had putter out of work for 2 more wks. She had too much pain. She's will be out 10wks total. I know everyone is differ.  :o[

To vsentz: I know what your going thru. I know it HURTS and posting any information can help. If you have any questions maybe I can help with some kind of support for you. If you don't mind me asking how big is your fibroid(s)?? Where are they located? Maybe we can help eachother with some stress relief?? If possible of course. When are sched?  I will have you in my thoughts. We will go thru it and come out find.... :o)  I hope your flu goes away too!!!!
AND on that road to BABYLAND!!!! I wish you the best,

Thanks to ALL!!!!   >^..^<

Do not mind at all girl! ;)) ask away!! thank you for your support! that is so SWEET!!!!
I believe I just have one..., im thinking the size of a prune....and i know it because the lady (real nice) took her time to explain me what it was and how it was interfering with my fertility......she said that my uterus is a little smaller than my fist, she showed me the xray pic and i could see a ball using about 50% of the space in there! if not more......and she said that my uterus shape was normal (inverted triangle) but that it was tilting it to the side....and yeah! i could see it was a lumpy side there....=(( (darn thing....) she said i'd be a very simple surgery to remove it, maybe about 2 hr long, and i'll be recovered in no time.....she was a sweetheart!!!
She said it was large enough to be acting like an IUD...and not letting anything implant....., altho i don't have any pain....i have mild discomfort every once in a while and i don't bleed as much as some symptoms say.....so, i guess that's good.....
Hey, if you wanna send a note (wink wink) just ad at and then rmshanover then the punctuation mark and com, to my nick........i'd love to be in touch with you girl!!!
Hey you answered a question i had!! i didn't know what to expect in my pre-op apt! also, i don't know if there's a certain day they will schedule me (in my cycle) for the operation.....and if it's safe that i just came out of a nasty flu.....=(

=)) thank you for your kind words!! i hope i get to help out too! wish you all the luck and good in the world!!!!!
