How long did it take you to conceive after Mirena IUD removal?

I haven't been warned of any problems with conceiving due to the treatments. It is possible, however, that I wasn't warned about conception problems since I already have fertility problems which stem from irregular periods. Also, since you guys have not had multiple treatments, I would assume that your ability to carry a baby would not be greatly affected. I carried my two babies for 35 1/2 wks & 36 1/2 weeks respectively.

Oddly, my 1st was longer in length (18 1/2 vs 17 1/2), weighed less (5lbs 13oz vs 6lbs 1oz), and was more developed than my 2nd despite me having had steriod injections with the 2nd one to improve his lung development. He spent a few extra days in the hospital on a respirator because he had under developed lungs & then went back in the hospital at his one week check-up due to toxic Jaundice levels.

I'm not really sure if carrying a baby to 40 weeks term is all that important these days due to advancements in medical technology. I mean, who would have guessed that my younger one would have been the less developed one since he weighed more & was carried longer? Either way, they both are healthy kids now. It just seems like an interesting fact to note regarding gestional terms.

Aren't we all a lil anxious to test.. My hubby things that its my PCOS causing me to have no period (as usual) and no BFP either. I am not likeing this idea, but I am going to start working out this week. I hate the idea of loosing a ton of weight and then gaining it all back- my body is so out of wack. But that is how I conceived my first child accidently, I worked out and lost 40pounds over the course of 6months, which in a way would work perfectly since I would like November or January baby and we're too late for that now already- this month we're looking at May if we conceived. Happy 1 year anniversary of marriage.

I havent even had spotting since removal- thought I ovulated, but I could have missed it. Bummer!

Hey girls - I've been watching and reading for about a week now.  I had my mirena removed today.  I was pleasantly suprised because I thought it would be painful. But, not so much.  So, my OB put me on prenatals, so I guess we'll see.  I've had a little spotting but only when I've used the restroom.  Hopefully it won't be long and we'll conceive.

Hi!
I thought it was going to be worse than it was coming out as well. Although I've had one removed before, it's one of those things you just kinda forget.. But it was quick and painless, I even said goodbye! hahaha

I started spotting Sunday (day two) and it's been super light since then, but constant.
I could handle my periods being like this from now on! lol

To Everyone (actively trying to concieve) - GOOD LUCK!

Your message was encouraging! You're right, I know regardless, I won't carry completely to term, as it'll be a planned caesarean, but just that thought gets to you, ya know?! But thanks for the advice and opinion, it helped!

I had my mirena removed in Janurary and still nothing. Actually having the mirena causes the lining of the uterus to be very thin and in my case has also caused my body to not ovulate anymore. I WISH I HAD KNOWN THIS BEFORE I had the mirena inserted. My ob said it can take a year to get you body back on track after mirena is removed. I just finished my second cycle of clomid keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck to all after mirena removal sticky baby dust to you all.

We've decided to wait until December to try again w/the Clomid. I'm actually hoping to conceive in late January or early February (My b-day month) so that my next one might be born closer to Baby Daddy's b-day at the end of September. This is, of course, assuming that I won't carry to term. My son was conceived on or about 1/1 had been due two days before his daddy's b-day, but came 3 1/2 weeks early instead. It would mean so much to him to have a girl on his b-day because his mom died on his birthday years ago and we plan to name a girl after her. **everyone cross their fingers for us; girl baby dust wishes**

In a strange coincedence, my unplanned daughter was due two days before my b-day, but came 4 1/2  weeks early on the day after her dad's b-day. He took me to Wal-Mart after the appt on his b-day when they said I was contracting & dialating. He parked in the back of the parking lot & walked me around for 3 hrs in hopes of "speeding things up". All that work & he missed the birth the next day because he went to go pick his sister up from work so that she could be at the hospital. Arghh!!!!! LoL. It all worked out I guess because my grandmother got to be in the room to see her 1st great-grandchild be born & she got to clip the umbilical cord. She & my daughter were both in the room for the birth of my 2nd (along w/BD & an aunt) as well and I hope to have them present for any 3rd child. My grandma is like my good luck charm so I don't want to do it without her.

Everyone,

I think we all already have at least one kid so, let's all share a bit of good news by telling each other about the whens, wheres, & hows of those beautiful blessings. Maybe the good luck we had from those experiences will spill over to the present?

Hello Ladies,

I am just getting back from my vacation..... I was due for my pregnancy test on the 14th, I tested and it was negative again :( it has been 2 months ttc and nothing... I have no idea what is happening if i am very regular with my periods and I feel great.

I am so confused ~ Maybe we all feel the same way but it just seems weird not being able to conceive quickly after two fast/normal pregnancies. Maybe I am just thinking about it too much. I am getting kind of tired of calculating days, counting and being ansious of taking the test and getting it neg. :(

I had my IUD removed August of last year to try for our third child and have been very unsuccessful.  My periods have been regular.  Actually, I was surprised how quickly they began after the removal (only 2 days later).  I really want to get pregnant, but very impatient on how long it is taking.

Thank you ladies so much, your advise was so helpful =0) I finally stopped yesterday August 17, 2009 (thank god). Now it's ovulation testing time, hope I get prego fast. I'm hearing alot of success stories this month so I really hope that I can be one more to the prego club.

To EVERYONE:
If anyone really wants a certain sex for a baby check out chinese birth chart, it's worked for me and my family for the most part (my mother in law told me all about it and boy did I think she was crazy lol) I know it doesnt work for multiples though.

GOOD LUCK LADIES

Did your period changed after the removal? my regular period was kinda heavy and 5 days long but after the removal it is medium and only last for 2 days.

Is someone else experiencing this?

hi ladies, my name is nikki and im new to this site. i just had a few questions about the mirena. i had mirena put in after my second baby was born 2 years ago. i just had it taken out 2 days ago to TTC my third. im really really scared that mirena totally screwed up my system from all the horror stories about it. i started bleeding pretty heavily today ( i never bled with it in, only some spotting) is this considered a period or just hormonal changes? i would definatly like to hear some success stories. i was a very very fertile girl before mirena and i would like to start trying soon. would i ovulate after i stop bleeding? i hope all is well. everything seems to be working since i did get start bleeding very soon after it was removed. some thoughts and advice would be great. thanks so much and good luck to all the girls out there! :)

by 5n1, Aug 18, 2009 09:36PM
sweety and karleigh_mason_mommy when I had mine removed I started bleeding 2 days later, medium, for 5 days, and now I just started again yesterday, which was 37 days between, but my ovulation came really late, but I did ovulate. and exactly 14 days after i O'd was yesterday, so all in all so far I am not that messed up, but again it has only been since 7/9/09. but yes i have noticed a difference in my period since removal it is much lighter but more pms symptoms. hope this helps and sorry i dont have more information to offer you. I am also ttc my 3rd

I'm not sure if I actually HAVE my 'period'.. But, I had my Mirena removed on Friday, by Sunday I was spotting, and continuously (enough to change a light tampon every 4 hours). But I've never had light periods, and so I'm wondering if it is just my uterus changing, adjusting..
It's Tuesday, and I'm still 'spotting', we'll see how long it lasts. I think each to their own, as everyone's experience has been different, from my reading. From days to weeks.. So, I'm hoping it's days and not weeks for myself!
The registered nurse from my GYN phoned today for a follow-up, and I asked her, and she just told me it could be either.. That it can never be sure which it is..
I'm hoping it's my period, and I'm blessed with a lighter period from now on *here's hoping!
Hope that helps, maybe, maybe not?

Well, I started my period after trying to conceive. I really thought I was pregnant though. I had a lot of symptoms. My gums bled twice, I was tired, hungry, pains, crying. But I guess it was still hormones. I had mine taken out on June 4th. I hope I can concieve this month. I didn't realize it was going to be this hard. I think I am just worrying about it to much. My last was a surprise! I have started taking a prenatal vitamin. I have heard that it helps your uterus get back to normal. I was just taking a regular multivitamin, but switched. So Hopefully this will be the month!! Good luck and Baby Dust to all!

Yes I a in the same boat as you.  Had mine out May 20th and still no baby.  This month I decided to get the ovulation kit.  I start that in a few days.  My periods are totally different now.  Longer and look different too.  My first 2 pregnancies were so easy so it's hard to make sense of all of it.  Hang in there and have you considered the kits?

Airforce Wife,
I wouldn't worry about the brown blood.  My cycle has been all over the place.  I would worry about the dizziness.  Be careful and try to figure out if it happens all the time or just every now and then.  I bet your bleeding you had July 28- Aug wasn't your AF I think the period you had Aug 10-13 was you first real AF and it's probably blood from that.  Had mine out May 20th bled for about 2-3 days on the 23rd of May.  Then got my first period June 13th for 8 long days.  Then July 15 8 long days then Aug 13 brown blood well spotting for 4 days.  Didn't even need to use anything it was only when I went to the restroom.  Then on Aug 17th the real stuff came.  I had to call the Dr and ask which day I count as Day 1 b/c I heard you don't count the spotting.  But she says you do.  So just an FYI....Hope you feel better. Take care!

Hello girls!
I've not been on in a while.  This whole waiting thing is much more frustrating than I thought it would be.  I have conceived before (on accident), but due to miscarriage I have no babies.  I do, however, have a wonderful step-daughter.  Sometimes I wonder if I'm crazy for wanting to give up all my "freedom" and sleeping in...  I got a positive on my ovulation test this morning, so hopefully this will be the month!  Good luck everyone!

is the bleeding after it is removed considered a period or is it just hormonal changes? i dont really know too much about ovulating cuz i never had to figure it out. i got pregnant very easily with my first two. how do you know you are ovulating without a kit?

No - the bleeding after removal is not considered a period.

I had mine taken out on June 24th.... i was spotting for about 5 days and them exactly at the 30th day i had my period.... diferrent because it is shorter (2 days in compare to 5) and now i don;t have any spotting at all.

well it's day 3(my IUD was removed monday the 17th)?  and no bleeding.  i mean practically nothing!  i shoved a ton of tampons in my purse on my way to the doctor monday thinking i would need them to get me through the day.  i noticed a little spotting once when i used the restroom but that's it.  then i remebered reading or hearing that a sign of ovulation is a clear (egg whitish) discharge which i had plenty of today.  my man and i had unprotected sex yesterday(1st since removal).  wouldn't that be some sh*t if i wound up PG right away??  i'm not holding my breath(can't be that easy right?).  i just wonder how long it will take me to get my first period?

congrats to those who are baking their bun and good luck to the rest of us trying!

Had Mirena removed 04/06/09.  AF from 06/06/09-10/06/09 (some say its not AF but hey I bled).  Ovulated inbetween according to OPK but then AF 25/06/09-27/06/09.  Used protection this month as want to try for a girl and seeing if the chinese birth chart works!!!.  AF 21/07/09-25/07/09 then TCC. positive test on 18/08/09 when AF due so hooray pregnant.  8yrs on mirena and 42yrs old so it can be done just hope it sticks now.  Good luck to all trying and baby dust to you all.

To: All wondering about AF
I think it's hard to determine if it's a period, or just your "break through bleeding", which I read about on another medical website.  Google it.  I really have no idea.  I would think the spotting/heavy bleeding we experience after removal could be the body adjusting itself after the removal..but yet, some are complaining that they're waiting for the bleeding to occur and it hasn't yet.  It's nice to be prepared w a purse full of tampons! lol  :}

Um..since I'm 24 days post-removal today and I started bleeding lightly yesterday..and now today I'm bleeding heavily...I will assume that it is AF.  I don't know if you can count the bleeding yopu have immediately after post-removal as AF.  Call your Gyno.  Or google "breakthrough bleeding".

Hi all! I'm new to this site, ususally post on BbyCntr.
Anyways, had my IUD removed 8/10/09, so I'm 11 days post removal today. Had the brown stuff the day of and the day after removal, nothing Wed or Thurs, Friday we DTD (protected, since the dr. said to wait until my first cycle) Then Sat (heat of the moment, LOL) DTD unprotected, by Sunday we said to heck with it and DTD again. 8/17 had some brownish discharge, 8/18 had a lot of brown discharge with some bright red in it, 8/19 creamy brownish CM, yesterday and today NOTHING. I'm so confused....I guess this was just the "breakthrough bleeding" that I read in a post above. I just hope I start my AF soon so I can really get going on this. My DD is 4 and I had so many problems TTC her.
*~BABYDUST~* to all TTC! We can all learn from eachother here. I love that!!

Good Evening Everyone..

Hope all is well with everyone, and to louis1234, hopefull that the first response test turns out positive! Good luck!

Well, I am now a week post removal of my Mirena, and have had no spotting since Wednesday.. although I was 'spotting' some actual uterine lining, I believe.. Nice. So I'm guessing that this was just shedding, and not actually my period, so we shall see what happens next month and how close my period stays to what I was pre-Mirena.

I have been officially confirmed as being booked in for my laser 'surgery' on Sept 25/09 for my LGSIL. Hopefully all goes well.. I've been told that it's a month recovery time, and absolutely nothing can be "introduced" into the v-jay for that time.. no intercourse, no tampons, nothing. Should be an interesting month. HA.

Hopefully soon after we can start trying to concieve, my fingers will be crossed that everything goes well, and we are good to go!

Thanks for listening to me vent ladies!

Wow-recovery time is a month?  When I had the LEEP, recovery was 2 weeks, I believe..and I had to stay out of work for 2 days.  I couldn't lift anything heavy or do any heavy physical things.  Hmm..

Ok, girls, I have a weird question.  I began my period last Wednesday, Aug 19th, (23 days after my IUD removal).  I bled for 2 days only and Friday and Saturday, I had sex, and the bleeding was just slight spotting.  I don't really know if I should count the days that I just had slight spotting?

Also, my question is this:  I know it's possible to get pregnant while on your period....so, when the sperm fertilizes the egg, does it make the "period" stop?  Do you stop bleeding if you've conceived during your period?

by chaoticatimes, Aug 23, 2009 12:24PM
To: Rdy4Baby3
They told me I would be off for a couple days as well, aside from the other things I couldn't do for a month.. I'm not going to take any chances, I'd just like to heal properly, and have it go away!

But what I meant is that, aside from just the bleeding, I actually had a couple times that there was "chunkiness"... maybe it was blood clots, but I assumed that maybe it was true "lining", I dunno, I've NEVER had that happen to me.. maybe someone could explain that, if they know what I'm talking about??

The menstruation cycle can be affected by fluxuations in the hormones progesterone and estrogen. These hormones control how the body sheds the lining of the uterus. When these hormones get out of balance, the wall of the uterus can become very thick.Once this occurs, you may experience a heavier flow, and more clots. Hormonal changes can be caused by a number of things including menopause, excessive weight loss or gain, or as a result of some medications. Your body could be passing blood too quickly. If you have excessive clotting or clots larger than a quarter consult a doctor.when your period is heavy and blood is being rapidly expelled, there's not enough time for anticoagulants to work. That enables clots to form. Maybe this is the reason why your having clots now and you havent had them before.

So with the equal brand home pregnancy test, what does it say for a positive pregnancy test. you have to have both show a positive to be pregnant? or  what does it reflect?

by louis1234, Aug 24, 2009 05:11PM
To: 36momof3
it is a minus(-) sign and a straight long (l) for negative and a plus sigh(+) and a straight line (l) for postive.  and I keep getting a minus but very very faint you can barely see it and after about 5 mins it becomes darker.  But I'm 1 day late, with some cramping so maybe AF is coming after all, but we'll see.  I'm going to wait until the end of the week before I test again.  Thank you so much for getting back to me.  This really helps

My Mirena fell out 3 weeks ago. I had very light bleeding for 2 days. Yesterday I just took a pregnancy test and it came back positive. I had normal periods all through having my Mirena in for one year. I'm 23 and have never had a child before. I'm alittle nervous but excited too. I wish all of you the best of luck! I took the digital response twice and a regular Walgreens one. the Digital was clearly positive, because it tells you and the regular +/- one was a very very faint positive.

Well it wasn't exactly planned. For some reason it got pulled out somehow. I never felt it! The reason I knew was because of the spotting not during my cycle. Do GP says I must know how to have fun! haha Anyways, I really see it as a blessing and even though we were planning on waiting a few more years, I know we'll do fine. I'm so nervous about going through child birth and the pregnancy itself!

I really hope you find out on or before the 29th. That would be quite the birthday present!!

I hope so too.  Today still no period but more cramping, a little nause and more after I eat, but this is so weird I have a metal taste in my mouth!!!  So we'll see what happens by the end of this week.  You know it's so hard not to get your hopes up and get excited about this.  But that's all I keep telling myself (it's not working LOL).  I'll keep you posted.

ok so i had my IUD removed on july 21 and had no spotting of bleeding after it was removed... i had my period on aug 10 (and thats when i should have gotten it) i never stopped having my period while i had the mirena, i could not tell a difference for having my iud and not having it... So is that normal? second question i had unprotected sex with my husband on aug 22 and 24 and when i looked it up the 24 was my most fertile day? what are the odds of getting pregnant that soon?????

by Mandi218, Aug 25, 2009 01:16PM
To: NINA311
Well it happened to me. I'm about 2 1/2 weeks pregnant, i think, and my IUD fell out 3 weeks ago. I went to my doctor as soon as I noticed something wasn't right and she confirmed it wasn't there anymore, which was about 2 days after I think it fell out. I've taken 5 pregnancy tests in the past two days and they've all been positive. I have a doc. appt. on Friday to have an ultra sound done. It is VERY possible. It just depends I guess on how Mirena affected your body.

Everyone trying:
A special good luck to all those women TTC. It'll happen! Just sit back and enjoy the ride...or rides! :)

hey ladies
im pretty sure im gonna need a play by play on everything that happens with my body lol glad we can all learn from eachother. anyway i bled heavily for about 3 days after removal and then it just stopped. i had sex while i was still bleeding and then the next day there was nothing. had sex at least once a day since then. i have had a lot of wet discharge. not egg white-ish, just wet and a quite a bit. what does this mean? i dont remember ever having the ewcm before and i already have 2 babies. this is such a complicated process. grrrrr. lol

I'm CONFUSED.  I expected to ovulate between August 15-18.  I got positives on my ovulation tests on August 18th and 19th.  On August 22nd, I started to cramp lightly and had a TON of watery thin milky-ish discharge.  I wondered if this was maybe the change in discharge that some women notice when they ovulate.  I was also starting to get lightly nauseated in the evenings.  The morning of August 23rd, I took another ovulation test and the test line went positive before the reference line.  On August 24th, my ovulation test came back negative.  I'm still lightly cramping, but it's starting to go away.  WTF is happening with my body?  I can't possibly ovulate twice a week apart, can I?  I'm feeling nauseated in the evenings, so I wondered if it's possible to get a positive ovulation test when you're actually pregnant?  I googled it, and there seem to be some reports of it, but what do you all think?

I found this blog thru general Google!  Thank you all ladies for your postings.  I had my Mirena removed 08/20 last week and haven't felt better.  I had it for 2 years due to 3 miscarriages - my husband and I had to be VERY careful - so this was our best bet.

We will be working on our 4th pregnancy and hopefully our first baby!!!

I love the "sprinkle the sticky baby dust" to all!!  :)

I'm so glad that I'm not alone.

You actually can ovulate more than once... ever heard of twins? Anyways, I've done a lot of research on pregnancy the last few days. A lot of times women's bodies have to regulate itself after being on any sort of contraception, depending on how your body handle being on birth control. The mirena thins the lining of your uterus. Once it's removed, your body has to get back into its "natural" cycle without any increased hormones that BC creates. The ovulation test could be a misread also. It might be too soon for you to start ovulating, but like I said it depends on how your body handle the birth control. I never stopped ovulating when I was on the Mirena. I had a normal period every month but the hormones make your uterus an unfriendly environment for the egg which is why I never got pregnant, until the stupid thing fell out!

Best of luck to everyone! Anyone else get any positive tests yet??

by Mandi218, Aug 26, 2009 08:45AM
To: waiting4babydot
If you think about it too much then you stress yourself out and it's harder to become pregnant. I know that is easier said then done but it'll happen I'm sure. Give your body time to regulate itself. I had bleeding for a few days after I believe my IUD fell out and felt pretty miserable which is why I eventually went to the doctor and found out I was indeed pregnant. Pregnancy wasn't even on my mind and it happened to me! Just keep your chin up and enjoy the baby making process! Good Luck!

What a lot of women don't realize is you don't get a positive test until you are about 3 weeks pregnant. I found this website last night that walks you through week by week. I didn't realize you were considered that far along already to get a positive test but I know it can be difficult to wait for the test to finally give you a plus sign!!

Hello Ladies,

So it has been a while since I have posted. On 8-6-09 I had my Paraguard (copper) IUD removed as my fiancee and I are trying for baby #2. Our daughter is going to be 6 on halloween and we think she is ready for a sibling. I am having a very bad day. Back in 2001 I had an ablnormal PAP, ended in Cryosurgery (freezing of abnormal cells). Since then I had a child, had an IUD inserted and continuosly normal PAPs. Well on 8/6 when i had the IUD removed I was also there for the annual. I got the results yesterday and I have "some atypical appearing cervical cells", and HPV type 16. I am devastated. I couldn't get in to the Gyno until 9/29 for the colposcopy and biopsy, anf they want me to stop TTC until after the results from the biopsy come back. Here is the issue. AF came on schedule on 8/23 and is totally normal. I am feeling like since this is my second go around with the whole abnormal PAP thing that I may want to still TTC this month. ONLY because if I do end up needing the cryo and it does not correct things then they may want me to come back in for LEEP and really push out the conception of Baby #2. Has anyone here gone through something similar to this, if so what was your experience? how did it end up?

I had Mirena IUD removed on Feb. 26 2009 and I was spotting from Aug 8-12 (very light pink).  I had a regular period July 6-10th. I  had a postive pg test on Aug 11th 2009.    I conceived on July 13th.  I started bleeding bright red only when I wiped after restroom. Not much.  But more than spotting.  I was told to go lay down and put a pad on to monitor bleeding . If I soaked a pad within 1 hour to go to ER.  I went to sleep for the night and woke up on Aug 20th with nothing on the pad. However, I went to use the restroom and as soon as I sat down a stream of liquid came out (all red blood) . No clots, No pain.  I went to my ob within an hour and she did a vag ultrasound and found an empty uterus. They did blood work on the on Aug 20 , Aug 21st to check my HCG levels.  She said it was to rule out a miscarriage , ectopic pregnancy or chemical pregnancy.

I received my results  aug 24th and she said I was pregnant but lost the baby because of the major decrease in the hcg level from one day to the next.

She said if the level would have fluctuated around the same level from one day to the next then they would have had to check for the ectopic pregnancy (tubal PG).

Chemical Pregnancy is - the pregnancy hormone hCG began to go up as a very early pregnancy developed, but it didn't establish itself, causing the pregnancy hormone to drop back down. While emotionally it can feel like quite a loss, medically it is more like a cycle in which you didn't get pregnant than a real miscarriage. It is one of the main reasons I recommend that people wait until after they have missed their period to take a pregnancy test. Otherwise it can give you false hope and then increase the disappointment that you aren't yet pregnant.

The fact that it got that far does give you some good information--the egg and the sperm met, and fertilized. Remember to take your folate and keep trying--success is probably just around the corner!

We were trying by the book , taking OV testing ,etc... Now we are just gonna leave it in God's hands and see what happens.

Please respond if anyone has had a similar experience and became pregant and was able to carry full time? How long after your miscarriage?

hey how far along are you? when did you take your PT? i am curious in how soon a pregnancy test will show weather you prego or not!

To Everyone......

Am i the only one who has no side effects from having my IUD taking out??? nothing change and when i had it put in 4 and half years ago nothing changed i had my period every month its always been heavy and one of the reason i picked an IUD was to reduce my period flow. But none the less there was no change.. i felt the same as i did before and after the iud.. is that normal?

I'm not 100% sure until I have my ultrasound on Friday. I think I'm only like 3 weeks along... very very early still. My chances of miscarrying are unknown because I don't know when the IUD fell out. My GP said I still might have a little bit of a higher chance of miscarrying because my body hasn't gotten used to the IUD being missing. The light bleeding I had for a couple days a few weeks ago could have been from the IUD falling out or from the embryo implanting itself. I had just had my yearly done at the end of July and my "strings" were still there so I know I can't be TOO far along. I haven't felt any difference. The only reason why I went to the doctor was because I had had the bleeding in between cycles and was concerned because I have ALWAYS been really really regular. I didn't even have any bleeding when I had the IUD put in. I've taken a ton of pregnancy tests and they're all positive. The digital ones are the best though! They just tell you yes or no instead of trying to figure out the blue lines. I didn't realize one of the tests I took has just 2 blue lines for a positive instead of looking for the plus sign. This one has just 2 blue lines for positive and one for negative... so confusing! Hang in there... : )

I've already conceived a set of fraternal twins, so I know I double ovulate, but I was under the impression that it all happened at once, not days apart.  So one fetus would be a week younger than the other fetus?  I've had my IUD out since June, and I'm pretty well regulated at this point.  I'm the type of person that always has to have a plan.  I'm not doin well with the unknown and the waiting.  This is killing me!

Hi Ladies!

Well, tomorrow will be one week since I had my Mirena removed.  I haven't noticed anything different with my body, inner or outer.  I felt minor discomfort once the IUD was removed, but that ended by that night.  I haven't spotted and I'm not due for my period for another week.  Hopefully this is all normal since all bodies are different.  One thing that I was sure to do was start on my prenatal vitamins. :)  That's another story in itself...LOL...I had to find vitamins with low iron %, I easily get constipated...LOL...

My main question - how would I know when my uterus has thickened?

I am almost 6weeks(friday) post mirena, no period, not really any signs of pregnancy and not a clue if my uterus is ready for a baby.

I have starting to work out and hope that loosing weight will help with the conceiving factor like it did the first time. I have PCOS lost 40pounds in 6months and was accidently pregnant shortly after.

I hope to do the same, maybe get pregnant in Jan/Feb so we can have a winter baby!!

It was 38 days between IUD removal and the first day of my first period.  I think my pre-mirena cycles were about 30 days, but I'm not really sure.  I'm due for my next period (the 2nd cycle) between September 1st and 8th. I think I'm ovulating now (I've had positive ovulation tests the last couple days), but I had positive ovulation tests on the 18th and 19th, too.  I don't know what the hell my body is doing anymore. Hopefully I'm not double ovulating, cause I have a history of that.  Do you know when it would have been that you ovulated?

I conceived a baby in late '98 or early '99 but due to irregular periods, I was unaware. I started having pains in my uterine area but ignored them because I just thought they were cramps. I didn't usually get cramps so I didn't know the difference. Anyways, the cramping became heavyone night (2/11/99) & there was just the start of a period. I put in a tampon, slapped on a liner, took a sleep aid & knocked out. I woke late the next morning in a pool of blood. I NEVER had heavy periods so I knew immediately that something was wrong. When the tampon was removed, there also came a flood of blood, tissue, & a little blue bubble that I still think was my baby.

I had an emergency D&C later that day because I had still had the sac in my right tube. I was told that I might have to have the tube removed, but luckily, it was saved. I was told to start on bc pills once my period returned & I agreed to do so. However, by early Apirl AF had still not visited. I went to the OB & had a urine test done. He said I was not pregnant & gave me a prescription for Progesterone so that my period would come. I took the pills for three days before I was lying in the floor writhing in pain from cramps. I started bleeding heavily & freaked out. So, I went to a different OB for alternate pregnancy tests & a sonogram. Well, I wasn't pregnant, but by then, it was too late to start the bc pills so I was told to be careful & start them when AF visited again.

Af didn't visit again for a year and a half because on 5/13 I conceived my daughter & breastfeed her. The doctor told me that I had conceived on or about 4/27 because of the progesterone. At first, we all believed that was true. However, a DNA test five years later proved that my daughter was fathered by a man that I did not have sex with until 5/13. That happens to also be the only time we had unprotected sex until we got the BFP. A happy twist to that story is that I married that man & he had signed her birth certificate (w/the assumed father's knowledge & consent). We only had the DNA test done because we were getting divorced.

So, I got pregnant following my first cycle after a miscarriage. True..it was months later, but that's just my body.

More than likely the heavy bleeding that most women experience after have Mirena removed is the wall of your uterus clearing out. The reason why people have bad symptoms with Mirena and constantly fear that they are pregnant is because the hormones released from the device makes your body THINK that you are pregnant. My finance's mom used to be a OB/GYN nurse and that's what she told me when I asked about the symptoms I was having when I was on the IUD. I gained weight, I was always moody and nauseous, I got this metal taste in my mouth and talk about mood swings and acne issues! BUT, I had a normal period every month and still was ovulating. So it effects everyone alittle bit differently.

Hope this helps!!

Something weaird about this month is that I have no stabbing sensation in my ovaries like last month... last couple of months were weird and this seems like nothing is happening AT ALL!

thanks. i just didnt really know what to expect. My doctor just told me that i may have some spotting but this is definately more than spotting so i didnt know whether to freak out or if it was normal. We are going to try for baby number 2 so i didnt know whether to count this for a period or not. I definately wanna give my body some time to recover from mirena, since ive heard alot of horror stories about getting pregnant to soon. Thanks for all the help i really apprieciate it!

I would suggest that you dont try to hard...let things take its place...Seems that women who try so hard and want to have a baby so back that it doesnt happen. Enjoy each and every min that you have...If it is ment to happen then it will happen.

So plan a fun excitting weekend with husband or week before he leaves and make it romantic. If it happens it will happen...Trying to hard will not make it happen!!

Take a deep breath and relax and enjoy each others love!!!

I've had the LEEP procedure done last December 2008.  I had CINII and had 10% of my cervix removed.  6 months later when I had my follow-up appointment on July 27, 2009, my pap results came back Normal with no signs of cancer of the cervix or regrowth of the abnormal cells.  :)  I was also told that I still had a lot of cervix left and that I really shouldn't have a problem conceiving....

The procedure went well, and I took off 2 days of work to recover and couldn't do any heavy lifting or anything physical.  I also had to wait 2 weeks before I could have any sexual contact.  Bummer! lol

I had some discharge after the procedure for several days to a week...it was basically pieces of tissue and spotting from the procedure.  Yes, kinda gross, but it wasn't anything major...I just treated it like  I would a period.  No tampons, only pads.  I was also put to sleep for the procedure, only because my IUD had to be surgically removed.  The day my LEEP was scheduled, my doc tried to go in and remove the IUD and she couldn't find the strings..and neither could I...they were wrapped around each other and were coiled up inside the cervix...eh.  Anyways, after the procedure, I had another IUD reinserted.

I'm just glad my pap results came back normal.  I hated the 2 week waiting game to get my results back!  Just make sure you get what you need done and follow-up on it.  :}  You should be fine.

Today marks one month since my IUD removal.  Every 4-5 days, my boyfriend and I have been making love :}  Still nothing.  I have not been pg testing or anything.  I believe I will know when I become pregnant.  Every day I hope to wake up with some sickening nausea or sore breats, lol.  I continue to take my prenatals and my extra dose of folic acid pills.  Still nothing yet.

I had what I believe to be a period 23 days after removal..which lasted approximately 5 days.  I'm not charting my ovulation or doing any ovulation tests..just going with the flow.  So.......hopefully it won't be long until we get lucky, now that I've got my first AF after removal out of the way.

Sperm can live up to 5 days, however it take approx. 48 hours to regenerate after having sex, so if you try everyday your DH may be shooting blanks. Your best chance is to skip a couple days and try at the last possible moment before he leaves.

Yeah.... I try to stop worrying about it so much specialy since it is becoming so hard to get pregnant this time.

I am actually getting kind of hopeless (I know it's bad) but everyday that I think about getting pregnant I automatically I think "for sure I won't get pregnant so whatever". This is not going to help but... :(

I will keep on trying don't get me wrong but I just don't keep my hopes to high now.

But just like I told 36momof3, I am feeling kind of hopeless lately, maybe it's the hormones, I don't know..... But we will keep on trying! :)

I had a chemical pregnancy :( I'm really upset about it actually but I didn't exactly have too much going for me. My doctor said that over 50% of first time pregnancies end up in miscarriages in the first trimester and she said the lining of my uterus was probably not in good enough condition yet because of Mirena. I had a feeling something wasn't right because I started having some bleeding again yesterday. I guess it just wasn't meant to happen yet but the idea of having a baby isn't going away I assure you! My doctor said after I have my AF then I should be good to go so we'll see what happens. My fiance doesn't want me back on BC though so maybe in a month or so we'll actually start trying.... I'm still really sad about it.

Sorry to hear what happened to you...but I honestly think that once you get off the merina you should take prenatal vitiams and have one period before things happen...I also had my merina out on June 3rd and even thou I tried hard to get pregnant right away. It did not happen tell the next month...So dont get your hopes up. Sometimes the lining of the uterus is not built up to handle a pregancy until after your first cycle....

It will happen...You will give us good info next month I am sure....

Thank You. We weren't planning on getting pregnant when I did but it's opened up the door now. I was taking prenatal and folic acid when I got my first positive test so I'm going to continue taking them even though I'm not pregnant now :( We aren't going to over try but we aren't going to use any protection either so we'll see what happens. It's in God's hands now and if I get pregnant, then awesome and if not, then we will try later on. I guess I should get through a wedding first huh? lol

Hello, I have a few tips for you so you can get pregnant. (1) After you do the deed try to keep your legs up for 30 min. afterwards, it helps so that the sperm doesn't leak out, (2) Try to stay on the bottom when doing the deed, it helps so that sperm doesn't come out as much. (3) Stay calm and relax, it will happen =0)

We got pregnant with my son the very first time we tried (hoping the second will be the same).  We did it doggy style and then I put like 5 pillows under my butt while I laid on the bed for an hour.  Same thought process - you don't want the sperm to fall out!  Hope that helps!

I had my Mirena in for a little over 2 years.  I had it removed on June 19th. My Dr. told me to wait a cycle or two to get pregnant so that the lining of my uterus would build back up.  I had a period about 2 weeks later and then exactly 28 days after that and Found out I was Prego on August 28th.  Due 5/11/10.  I couldn't be happier with my Mirena experience.  Good luck to you all : )

I was reading over all the posts and it was very informative. I had mirena removed Aug. 15 and bled for a day pretty heavily. Then it stopped. I had stopped getting my period just the previous month (July) after a year with it in.  Well it being the end of the month im expecting AF to arrive. But it hasn't. For a week now i have had sore breasts, lower back pain, more tired than usual. And negative tests.  Im so confused.

I can't tell if its stress because i just got married, If its my period with no blood (being a side effect??) or if im pregnant.  I just dont know

7/13-7/22 heavy bleeding after removal
7/28-8/1 1st period
8/30- postive preg. test.

Yes, I went in for a urine test last tuesday and it came back neg. but on sunday I still had no period and lots of cramping, and nause and dizziness.  So I bought a hpt which ended up having 2 test and took them at different times and both times a positive.:)
So I'm going today to Dr. to confrim and see how far along I am.  I don't want to start thinking negative because I have read ugly stories of chemical pregnancies and that women have lost their babies at 7 weeks and so fore.  But I strongly believe that everything will be okay.

Me and hubby are real excited.

ok..so IUD taken out on 8/07..HEAVY HEAVY bleeding on 8/08.  had PLENTY of unprotected sex after removal..wasnt told that i couldnt.  B/c i am a pain in the A..took 2 preggers tests already, both (obviously) came back negative.  but had symptoms of being pregnant (think my mind was playing tricks on me).  first baby was EASY, and a surprise.  went to the restroom today and noticed more bleeding, 5 days before my actual cycle to start..so i have no idea of what this is.  i guess my 1st cycle, if you all's posts are any indication. i told my husband that if i had known it wouldnt be immediate like last time, i would have taken this thing out months ago.

Well I went to Dr. did urine test and got another BFP and nurse told me that going by last period I'm about 5 weeks.  BUT when dr. did vaginal ultrasound he could not see a heatbeat!! WTF??? I asked why, he said it was probably too early, but that everything else looked good and healthy.  He also sent me for bloodwork and another appt. for another ultrasound in 2 weeks.  BUT now I'm so worried that I'm not really prego.  Could that be possible (even after 3 hpt and 1 (urine) @ the Dr. total of 4 positive pregnancy tests)???  Or am I worrying for nothing?? Well...I am AMA and it has taken me a while to convince my hubby to have another baby. I had the Mirena in for about 4 years and had it taken out 8-4-09. I have been charting my BBT's (which have been all over the place until this last week). I bleed heavy 8-6-09 and light on 8-7-09 then spooting for about another week or so. No bleeding since then. I used to very regular prior to the Mirena, about every 28 days. I did not have periods with the Mirena. So here it is 9-1-09 exactly 28 days post removal and no sign of AF. I did get a + OPK 8-29-09 but my temps do not appear to show ovulation. We have BD about ever 2 days or so since removal. I don't know what is going on with my cycle...anyway...just wishing i could have AF so I would know that I am bacl to normal.

Hello,

Well here I am back in ttc world. I have a 5 year old son and a 4 year old daughter. I had Mirena removed today and bleeding yet but I am sure I will. I had some spotting a few weeks ago so I hope I am past ovulation. After reading the posts on here I think I need to wait through a full cycle first.

I have struggled with endometreosis and PCOS. My first preg was with infertilti treatments and produced triplets which I lost two of but my perfect son fought the odds and is in kindergarten this year. The day after my sons first b-day I found out I was pg with my daughter (unassisted) I could not belive it. I got Mirena in jan of 2004 and out today.

So I am here to join force....;) Babydust to all!!!

Lol...I relied on a dollar hpt when I found out I was pg with my son 6 years ago.  Also...today, just for the hey of it...I was shopping at Dollar Tree and picked up a hpt..and it was negative.  I was disappointed yes...but hey, I knew the odds of not being pg, even though I had been feeling a little weird the last several days.  My bf says, it's ok, we'll keep trying....  The waiting game IS very annoying and hard to do. lol.

Anyways, don't trash the dollar hpt's!  They're almost just as good...and when in doubt...call your doc and schedule a urine/blood test.  :}

I'm still keeping up with everyone's success stories..and hoping I will soon follow.....

Congrats 36momof3!!  Both hpt's for both of my boys had a very faint positive too.  It's probably because it's late and your hcg levels don't show up as much when your urine is diluted.

Now, to all you other problem solvers out there... I still haven't had AF?!  I'm going on 3 weeks (post mirena) and I've had one day of bleeding and that's it.  I've felt slightly nauseus (idk how to spell that) and unusually tired the last 2-3 days. I just have a strange feeling that it's happened extra fast.  I know it could be me just getting my hopes up, but I usually have a pretty good idea when I'm PG.  I took a test yesterday and it came out negative but I'm sure it's way to soon to show up on a hpt.

any ideas?

6.5 weeks post mirena now, no AF and no signs of anything... started working out 2 weeks ago and have been going 3+ days a week. What the heck do I need to do to at the very least get AF back so just MAYBE I could ovulate???

Any thoughts anyone?

Congrats to the new BFP's!!!!

AF will come

I would say that you are TOTALLY preggo!  With my first son, I took a 5-day early test 3 days before my period.  I remember thinking that I might see a really faint line and then deciding that I was just getting my hopes up.  The day OF my missed period, I took another test and it was clearly positive.  SO, any faintness of line means the hormone is there.  It just gets darker as you get farther along!!  If you see a line at all, you are pregnant!!!!  CONGRATULATIONS!

Also, After I found out that I was pregnant I took about 100 more tests to "make sure."  I used a dollar store test, too and it worked for me!  :)

Good luck and baby dust to all!!

Congrats to all who are preggers! I wish you all the best. A lot of sticky baby dust to the rest of us!  I ovulated the end of last week so I hope I will get a BFP this month. Last month it didn't work. My ovulation this month though was painful. Has anyone ever experienced that. Like a really bad cramp? It lasted for a little over a day and now nothing. Last month I thought I was because I had syptoms (symptoms) out the ying yang but now I don't and I remeber last time I didn't have any until after I found out. I am not worrying about it as much as I was last month this month. I was really wanting an April baby but a May baby will be perfect too!

It took me about 6-7 weeks post iud removal, removal was 7/13 bleed HEAVY, HEAVY until the 7/22, then 1st period on 7/28, ovulated on 8/2-8/9 and BFP on the 8/28.  I didn't buy the ovulation kits at the store I went online and found what days and did it on those days, also I started taking folic aid since day of removal, oh and lots of espom salt baths they help you relax.

WOW...Congratulations to everyone with BFP's. I hope this is a BABY DUST month for everyone!!!  Today is the first real temp rise on my BBT...so hoping I ovulated Sunday or Monday. I was very excited to get my + OPK Saturday, I am on day  30 post IUD removal and have no idea what is going on with my cycle. Like I said before, I used to be every 28 days like clock work prior to the IUD. I bled 2 days after removal for 2 days then spotting for a week or so...then nothing! My BBT temps have been all over the place but never higher than 97.9 and not today I got 98.4 so that is a big jump. I am AMA and concerned a little about time...because the longer it takes to get pg the more risks are involved. Anyway...enjoy the moment of the BFP everyone!!!

Supposed to get AF tomorrow but I'm hoping I don't. We tried during ovulation but I may have missed my key days. We were so busy. I don't have any symptoms that my period is starting but I'm exhausted and just mellow.

Congrats to all the ladies with BFP. I hope you have great pregnancies!

Hi, just wanted to share that there is no more bleeding for now, but I still have mild cramping that come and go throught out the day.  I called Dr. to see if test results were in and they are not.  She did tell me to relax that the light bleeding and cramping is normal. and since there is no more bleeding I should not worry or think I'm not prego.  That I am and should enjoy the news.  (But I can't until I know for sure that this is not a "chemical pregnancy" HEY what can I say I'm a worry hag....LOL)

I hear you. One of my close friends is my age (28) and she just had her 2nd abortion this year. It's her 5th one overall in her life, but she does have two healthy children. She promised that she would keep this one because she allowed herself to get pregnant both times this year beacuse she wanted to start a family with her boyfriend-at-the-time. But when their relationship starting having problems she ran right out & killed her baby...twice.

She says that it doesn't matter what time of the month it is, if a guy ejaculates in her, she gets knocked up. In fact, two weeks after this abortion, she went & got the plan B pill because her ex boyfriend came in her and she was so sure she'd, "have to go get ANOTHER abortion." I tried to get her on Mirena, but she said she was too scared it would "mess her up". I don't get it & personally, it makes me mad to think too much about it. Sometimes, I don't know how we can be friends when I have no respect for her choices.

Anyways, I've been post Mirena for over 7 months now & I'm quite sure that I have not ovulated once. I'm trying to be patient because I know there are women out there with NO children who've been trying for years. When I read their stories on Med Help, it makes me feel so blessed to have the two that I already have. I'm looking forward to December though. That's when we'll be trying the fertility treatments.  :-)

Anyways, I'm just emotional today so I just had to throw my thoughts in about those issues.

Baby Dust to all!!

Are you really sure you ready for a baby? Its very hard to have a child on your own at the age of 22 i have been there! with some of your post it almost sounds as if you have not told your boyfriend you are not on BC. Maybe you and him should talk alittle and wait till your sure you and HIM really are ready for a baby.. I am sorry if that sounds rude but your post was like  a red flagged me for some reason.. I hope i did not affend anyone..

CONGRADS to all the mommies to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey,

I want to say from my experience in life and the age I am at. Plz dont have a baby to have a baby weather its with a man or with out a man. You are so young and your life will be changed drastically. I suggest that you work on yourself and getting help to not find the men in your life that hurt you or damage you as a person. I would try to seek help and make you the person you love and cherish each and every day. Having a baby is a wonderful joyful experience and one you will love for the rest of your life. However to have a baby to fill the void that you miss or wish you had. Filling that void with a baby sounds wonderful but on the other hand that does not fix your problems in your life.

You as a young women need to be strong and say no more of this kind of relationship and to seek a relationship that treats you like the queen and loves you in all ways. Plz I know that it maybe important to have a baby in your life, but take it from me and what I know as women who is now 36 years old and did have her first baby at almost 22yrs of age...I love her to death and wouldnt trade her for anything. But what i have learned over the years is that, dam its hard and i would have done things WAY different. Its a hard job and not easy being single and doing things by yourself even if you have the support.

I dont know if you name is Mandy or not but I would honestly been strong and seek healthy and loving relationship and a stable one, before I have a baby come into this world.

I want you to know that I am not here to be your mother or your counsler ,but i am here as a middle person to tell some things in my life experience that may help you become strong individual.  plz try working on you and your life situations, than running out there and become pregnant and not have a healthy living situation for you and your baby...

Heather

fyi...
plz dont take this harsh..but i care for women out there and there situations. dont settle for that one guy cuz you love him and you think he will give you everything!! learn from other experience women....

I have been taking pain pills for the last couple weeks cuz I have a bad tooth! Do you think every thing will be ok with the pregnancy? I am so parinoid now about everything cuz I got pregnant so soon after my iud so Im scared maybe my uterus is not back to normal! I had a miscarriage 13 years ago and it was horrible and I never want to go through that again!!!
