I just had my hystrectomy on 9-04-09. I feel just great. Very painful next day after surgery. 3rd day gas real real bad.I only took vicodin for 8 days. I sleep alot because i am bored. I am not tired at all. I know i have alot of healing to do but i feel great. I hope i don't get an yeast infection.

I figured it would be a tough one.  I'm getting an abdominal hysterectomy which is a little longer to recup.  I am getting my uterus and ovaries both taken out.  The doctor said that I have grapefruit size complex cysts on both ovaries.  I guess the only good thing is that I won't have a monthly period.  Now, I will graduate to hot flashes and night sweats--hope I get good pills so that they won't be too frequent.

I had a partial hysterectomy in March with a bladder tack, rectocele and interocele. Eventough I had more than 1 surgery, I was only hospitalized 2 days. I then had the ovaries removed on 9-20 and I feel great but still have minor pain and still very tired. Take it real slow. Get alot of help around the house. You will think your doing good and then the lack of energy will hit. It takes weeks for you to get back to where you were before. Good Luck

I had one, bikini cut type, took everything but ovaries, i stayed in hospital 4 days, not gonna lie, very painful first 2 days but eased up alot come the third day 4th day i was ready to go home, and when i left the hospital I felt great, i went shopping..lol.....then home, didn't need any stronger painkiller then tylenol...but it did take a good 2 months to get complete, I did get a nasty yeast infection about 3 months after it, but it cleared up great you will have itching down there during the 6-8 weeks recoup, if it gets too bad get checked, glad i did, but my inside stiches were gone by 2 weeks after surgery, tummy sore still though, everyone takes pain and healing different, but as women we are strong, good luck to you, oh and by the way, i am so glad i did it, no more monthly pains...woooohooo, prayers with you for a very speedy recovery!

I had a hysterectomy on June 9th and only stayed in the hospital one night. My surgery was a vaginal hysterectomy with assisted laprascopy. The dr. wanted a 2 night stay but I was anxious to get home. It took me a good 6 weeks to feel more myself but still had several infections, bacterial, vaginal, yeast. It was frustrating.  I have four kids of my own and did not expect the recovery time to be the 6 weeks that everyone kept telling me. Definitely give yourself the time and don't bend over alot. Are you having a cystocele for your bladder? I did as well and if you are having that then definitely let someone help you. Good luck.
