Hyperhidrosis or Profuse Sweating

by Xabuxondo, Mar 15, 2007 12:00AM
I have had this problem of profuse sweating for ca. 20+ years now. I am 66 yrs. old, 5’4” (164 cm) and weigh 234 pounds (US), or ca. 105.5 Kilo. The sweating started when I was in my mid forties and weight ca. 140 pounds (US), or 63 Kilo.

I find myself sweating for no apparent reason. When I am in hot conditions it becomes a major problem but even when it is cool I sweat from the whole head, face etc. (wet hair) and sweat is running down my back, and usually also down my legs. It is not only embarrassing, but also severely restricts any and all of my activities.  Are there any medications that I could take to stop or reduce my profuse sweating?

At this time I suffer from, and take medications for Crohn’s Colitis, Hypertension and Anxiety. I also have Diabetes-2, Osteo Arthritis, and C-Spine spurs, for which I do not take any meds.

When this started...was it bothering you everywhere.
I suffered from hyperhydrosis for years....I finally got my sweat glands removed...
best thing I have ever done re it.
The surgery was brutal and the recovery was months as I didn't heal well.
Nowadays...there are botox shots etc..that you can get for this condition.
But yours does sound like more.
Did it progressively get worse as you got older?
Does or did menopause make it more extreme.
Sorry I'm not too helpful...but you could get your hormones checked and then maybe go from there.
My problem was only under my arms...but most def a severe case.
Good Luck!
