40 yrs. old. 3 months ago had hydrothermalation with no relief of fibroid pain. History of TAH 6 weeks ago. Biopsy showed adenomyosis and multiple fibroids.Ovaries are intact. Incision looks good. Pain is severe in lower right abdomen and involves swelling. Swelling is not even bilaterally, but only on the right side. Pain travels through to the back and down the leg. No fever or very low-grade 99.2.
At 3 1/2 weeks post-op, my Dr. cut 3 anchor stitches which were on the corners and middle of my incision. She simply cut off the knots, did not remove a length of suture. I felt a recoil on the right side, and felt like I had a plastic clothing tag stuck inside my right lower groin area. It didn't feel like a dissolvable suture at all, but was still very strong like fishing line and she gently pushed down the remaining piece into my flesh. I assumed it would dissolve soon (within 30 days)
I am still only able to walk to the corner and back very slowly. I have seen no improvement in pain since about 2 weeks postoperatively. It is excruciating for me to drive. My husband is disabled and doesn't drive. I didn't drive for about 3 weeks, but now, it is very hard to get by without driving.
I have Celiac disease, which is an intolerance to gluten and I have had some concerns that I may be allergic or sensitive to the 5 layers of dissolvable sutures that I have. ( I am seeing an allergist, too).I have also thought that maybe a small clamp of needle was left in the right side. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. God Bless.
