I am 20 years old, and started my period when I was nearly 15. For as long as I have had my periods they have been irregular other than a year or two somewhere in between when they had been regular for a while. I sometimes miss 3/4 months, sometimes they come every month and are relatively heavy but not unmanageable. I have been to the Doctor before about my periods but they have put it down to my age, or stress. However I recently have started spotting since mid-September. I have a light pink/brown blood that barely transfers on to a pad but is there when I wipe. I had it for a week, then nothing for 8 days and the same again so this will be the 3rd time it has started up again (basically every other week).
The doctor thinks it may be PCOS, I have had blood tests done and they came back all clear so I am waiting for an ultrasound to determine if it is PCOS. I can’t stop worrying about it and don’t understand why it comes and goes for a week at a time? I should mention I am overweight but don’t know if this has any factor? Should I worry and ask for the ultrasound to be sooner, or get a smear?
Any advice would help, thanks.
