Yes, the vagina cleans itself out with secretions.  Most of the month they are milky white and thin.  Middle of your cycle they are clear and thick (like raw eggwhite) for a few days; that is a signal you might be ovulating.  If it's bothersome, get some of the thin pantiliners and use them, it catches the fluid and you simply change the liner when you go to the loo.  If you've got something thick and clotty, like cottage cheese, then you might suspect a yeast infection.  It doesn't sound like that is what you are describing, though.

Also, do expect that your first few periods will be unpredictable and spotty, off and on, sometimes lighter and sometimes heavier.  You'll get an even flow of cycles soon enough, but the body does not always start up smoothly (or end smoothly either.  Sometimes women go months when they are perimenopausal with very irregular cycles, and it frustrates them because it's so hard to predict!)

Anyway, if some time has gone by since your first period, it might be the next one coming.  But if no time has passed, it might just be the end of your period with a tiny gap in the flow.

Hi, sweetheart.  You're saying your first period has come and gone, and now you are still seeing some blood or red?  Or are you saying you see some red and think this must be your first period?

I think my first period was rusty red and rather light, and I didn't see the full blood-red right away.  If you've had a full-on period that you know what it is, and you now think it should be over, and you are seeing some blood at an unexpected time, it could also be a bladder infection or a kidney infection.

But if you aren't having any pain, it could be more of your period, or if time has gone by, it could be your next period.

Can you talk to your mom or an aunt about this?
