IS THERE A TEST FOR A SPECIFC HIGH RISK STRAIN OF HPV

by maggiegirl, May 27, 2007 12:00AM
Does anyone know if there is a test to determine which strain of the high risk HPV one has?  My pap only showed that I was positive as to all 13 strains of the high risk and there was no differentiation.

They can run pcr to determine which strains you have. If they identified that you had 13 strains, they probably already did.  It's strains #16 and 18 that can cause cervical cancer.  Take a closer look at the report or call and ask your doc.
