IUD and Cramping

i have had an copper iud inserted for 2yrs now and in between periods i get bad stomach cramping sometimes....is this normal or should i go see my doctor? sometimes the cramps go down into my thighs

It sounds like the cramps are pretty severe, I would see a dr to confirm placement of the iud. I do have cramping in between periods with my iud, but it is mild. Best wishes to you.
