IUD and yeast infections

I have had my IUD in for about ten months and in that time i have had about six or seven yeast infections, i had one or two pre-IUD in my lifetime, so now that i keep getting them i obviously assume the IUD is to blame, my doctor tells me its not the IUD and i should leave it in, anyone had this happin?

Just wondering if it has anything to do with having to check the string of the IUD frequently. I can not imagine the IUD itself would be the culprit. Once it is in place it is a uterus thing and I never heard of yeast infections starting from the uterus. Mind you, my IUD memories are about 15 years old, I don`t know if there is still a string on them nowadays...I got pregnant despite one and never used that method again.
