Anyone have a weird smelly brown discharge with the Mirena? I just got over my period and now it's like a brown smelly discharge. Not like any smell I've ever smelled.

Right on. The greater risk for STDs or their severity has something to do with the way the IUD works: it causes a slight but permanent irritation of the uterus lining which is to prevent a fertilized egg from implanting itself int he uterus. With that mild inflammation, it is no wonder that some STDs could creep up and take over your whole pelvic area.

their is a risk with the iud for pelvic inflamatory disease, maybe that can cause major problems if you catch an std(im totaly not sure about this) or more likely maybe the are just being extra careful covering their rear ends so you cant try to blame them if you contract a disease, ;)

It's not greater with IUD. It's a risk with any kind of "unprotected" sex.

Right.  PID risk increases dramatically with IUD users who report more than one steady sexual partner.

I had a IUD in for a year and my Dr. told me that if you have one in and get a STD it greatly increases your chance of developing PID. (pelvic inflamitory desease). PID can become pretty serious. To be safe use a condom everytime. Good luck
