Irregular cycle

I was wondering about something. I just had a baby back in October. My cycle was starting to become normal at every 28 days for the past 2 months. However, before I started having children my cycles were irregular. My question is that is it possible that a woman can go up to 35 to 40 days from her first day of her last period? and can stress contribute to irregular cycles

Thank you for responding. I took a home pregnancy test and it did come back to be negative. I still have not started and it is now we are approaching the last week of the month. Im trying not to stress over it so much but do you think I should try to do another test around the beginning of the month to just have it ruled out or call my obgyn to get an appointment and have them confirm that im not? Also, I started to take my birth control in the month of Jan the first week after my last period and stopped taking it when my sister told to check it to make sure it was not on a recall list that they had announced for other type of birth control that time. So, even though I took 5 pills can that also mess up my period?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Menstrual cycles are considered normal from 21 to 35 days. However stress can also make periods irregular. Other causes of irregular periods could be due to hormonal imbalance, stress, chronic illness, polycystic ovarian disease, thyroid gland disorders or diseases, pituitary gland tumors or cyst, galactorrhea, prolactinomas etc.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
