Kidney pain

hi. i belonged to the maternal/child forum during and after the birth of my son. now, i am having a health problem of my own and looking for some advice. today is the third day i have had severe pain in my lower right back, underneath my rib cage and above my waist. it is consistent and painful. i ahev been urinating frequently, unable to hold it and haven't gone #2 since the pain began. i haven't been able to sleep comfortably either. the problem is, i am being put on my husband's insurance effective tommorrow, after being dropped from my insurance when i worked only part-time after the birth of my son. the doctor reccommended i go to the emergency room, but im wondering if i should just stick it out and bear the pain until tommorrow after 5 when i can see my doctor. it is really bad. and i have to work. my boss is away and i'm the only one here. i don't know what to do as i don't know how serious this is and the emergency room with no insurance is verrrry expensive. any advice?

It could also be a kidney infection.  It's not worth chancing damaging your kidney.  Hospitals can work out a payment plan if there is no insurance.
