LGSIL - caused by HPV

Has anyone had an abnormal pap called LGSIL?  My doctor is doing the wait and see approach.  Had a colposcopy but she didn't find anything to biopsy.   She said it could revert back to a normal pap.

Thanks for sharing your experience.  Sounds like your cells have reverted back to normal. It means alot to hear from others who have gone through my same experience and have come out fine.  Thank you!!!!

I also had a pap come back abnormal with low grade cellular changes.  I had the colposcopy which she said looked very normal....she did a small biopsy which showed the same as the pap.  I went back 3 months later for another pap and that one came back normal.......I will have to go back every 3 months for the next year and if they all come back normal will go back to once a year. My doctor also seemed very laid back about it......explained that it is a very common thing and that most times it does go back to normal on its own.  I have also been taking extra folic acid and trying to be very regular with my daily vitamins.

Thanks LC Girl.  Your post was very helpful!  I have been taking vitamins and I did stop smoking. My doctor doesn't even seem concerned about it, just have to be sure I get paps regularly.  I guess that's good when the doctor doesn't seem to scared right???

I have doubled up on the folic acid and now I take Vit D too.  I just read another post that recommends astragalus, a Chinese herb.  I'm going to check that one out.

Thanks again and hope you are having a great day!!!!

Hi Mayflowers,

I had the same result on my last PAP.  I had a colposcopy and the doctor did do a small biopsy.  The doctor said the biopsy showed mild cellular changes, which is the same thing as LGSIL.  She said up to 80% of the time it will clear up on its own.  They usually don't treat at this point, just monitor with more frequent PAPs, next follow up is in 4 months for me.

While you're waiting for your followup, you may want to search for vitamins that are recommended to help boost your immune system (folic acid is one I hear about alot to help this condition), eat a healthy diet, exercise, get plenty of rest, and stop smoking if you are a smoker.

Good luck and try not to worry too much!
