Labium Minora Tear and Abnormal Ridges inside Vagina

Labium Minora Tear and Abnormal Ridges inside Vagina

About a week ago I had gotten sick because I traveled to a different country to visit my fiance who is in the Navy. I started getting a different vaginal discharge then normal, and attributed it to my being ill. Two days after I noticed the discharge my vagina began to itch constantly. Being in another country I am not near my gynacologist, and took it upon myself to determine what was going on. I remembered we had been using a new kind of K-Y lubricant that was a gel instead of an oil, and I did some online research to discover I had a yeast infection. The first thing I did was clean myself as best I could and inspect my vagina to be as sure as I could and discovered that my right Labium Minora (I believe) has been torn almost in half. I think it is the labium minora, its not the lips that hang down and expand during intercourse, but the small half oval shaped lips on the very outside of my vaginal opening. I used a seven day monostat and the infection has gone away, but the tear has not even started to heal. It is painful to urinate because it gets into the tear, and when I was sure the infection was cleared I used a douche and it stung. Shortly after I attempted to have intercourse again and it was extremly painful and felt like it was tearing farther. Also, reaching inside to see if I was bleeding I discovered that the top of my birth canal had become ridged and bumpy. Is this due to the recent yeast infection, and what, if anything can I do about the tear? Should I postpone my trip and return to the states for treatment immediatly, or is there nothing to worry about?

I have to agree - you aren't a doctor (I don't think) yet you are diagnosing and worse, treating yourself for problems you think you have. Dangerous. Also, it is completely normal to have bumpy ridged tissue inside your vagina - everyone has it.

First - never ever douche. Second - get this looked at by a doctor because you are likely making things much worse.

I agree with everyone else's comments.  Your activity (having sex) is making it worse.  douching also could be irritating it.  The reason why i'm against douching is because it kills not only the harmful bacteria, but it kills all the bacteria.  Our vaginas have a natural way of cleansing and douching interferes with that.  Also, I agree with Mrs. Canada, diagnosing yourself is dangerous.  So, please go to a doctor asap to get checked out.

If you never had a yeast infection before, you cannot diagnose yourself.  Herpes is most commonly mistaken for yeast infections.  I am not suggesting you have herpes, but I would see a doctor next time.  That said, since the itchiness responded to the Monistat, I would take that as a good sign that it was yeast.  Tiny cuts can also happen in yeast infections.  The doctor probably won't be able to tell what it was for 2 reasons, 1. You already treated yourself w/Monistat.  2. Too much time as gone by to culture the "cut" on your labia.  If this ever happens again, go to the doctor right away.  He will be able to diagnose you and/or run the necessary tests.  P.S.  DONT DOUCHE!

girls, this bumpy ridge around the vagina......can they get bigger if they are irritated!? I shaved my hair down there, haven't done so in a very long time, and these bumps seem to have gotten irritated.  how can you tell the differnce between ingrown hairs, and an std!?
