Large painful lump under arm

Almost 18 months ago I was visiting a hospital patient and had my arm extended with the armpit on the bed rail for hours holding her hand.  That night what appeared to be a muscle under my arm was very sore and painful and huge in size.  I used a heating pad and it began to feel better but has flaired up several times since then.  It's as big as a baseball at time and never goes away completely.  When its at its worst I tend to feel like I have a fever.

You may have injured a blood vessel. They can become inflamed. It would be best to have it checked. I'm guessing if it was a clot, you would have had some other symptoms by now like neuropathy (tingling) or color changes.
