Leaking serum from nipple

Today in coming out of the shower I noticed serum leaking from my right nipple.  I gently pressed the areola, and more leaked out.   I checked my breast for lumps and there is nothing noticeable.  I had a mammogram about 2 years ago and it was negative.  I am 54 years of age, healthy and I live in the Middle East, so it's a bit hassly going to a doctor.

Any idea what this could reasonably  be.  I have never had anything like this happen before.

Thanks

Thanks.  I had the mammogram and interestingly, there is a small mass on the left side (the right is where I had the leak problem).  I had an ultrasound today, and there is a 7mm mass, so I am awaiting a biopsy.  We'll see ow it goes.  Hopefully it's just body chemistry also.

It may turn out to be nothing – I occasionally have breast discharge – many consistencies and colors – I have been under the care of a breast surgeon and a surgical oncologist and it is completely benign – just my body chemistry.

Thank you.  Hopefully it is hormonal, but I will find out soon - I go tomorrow morning for the mammorgram.  Yes, I am post-menopausal.

Good luck with your mammogram. I hope its just your hormones which is a good possibility.  Are you in menapause?

Thank you, Ticked.  It may be cancer or high prolactin levels, but it's definitely not pregnancy and I'm on no medication.

I've booked an appointment for a mammogram, so will see how that goes.

Well it could be many things.

1.  it could be that you are pregnant
2. That you have breast cancer
3. your prolactin levels are high and are causing this to happen.  This could be from hormone fluctuation or antipsycotic medication etc.

I would go because of your age to the doctor and have that checked out.
