Has anyone on here had a copper IUD?  Any positives or negatives you could let me know about?

I have had a copper IUD for the past 8 years.  The only side effects to speak of are stronger cramps with my cycle and heavier periods.

I had a copper iud for 7 years, and LOVE LOVE LOVED it. SOooOO EASY, never had to remember a dang pill, no unnecessary weight gain, etc etc.... It was great! Just had it removed in Feb. because we're ttc now... Good Luck to you...

I HAVE IT SINCE 2005 NOW AND YEAP YOU GET HEAVIER PERIODS AND REALLY STRONG CRAMPS.  MY DOCTOR SAYS THAT IT IS NOT THE IUD BUT SINCE I HAVE IT ON I BEEN HAVING A LOT OF YEAST INFECTIONS AND I HAD TRIED EVERYTHING AND IT WON'T GO AWAY.  I BEEN THINKING OF REMOVING IT.

I'm 25. I've had a copper iud for 6 months, put in after #3, and have had nothing but problems with it. I can feel it all the time and it hurts to have sex sometimes. I've had heavy bleeding and lots of pain. My right ovey isnt passing eggs like it is supposed to and that causes alot of pain. I've had bladder infections, urinary track infections, and yeast infections caused by it. I'm getting it taken out next week due to all of the above. I'm not trying to scare you away from it but I thought you should know what could happen.

I had the copper IUD for 7 years.  Besides heavy cramping and 8 day flows I was fine.  I have never had a baby hence the cramping and heavy flows.  I checked every month and only had a slight shifting at one point in time but everything was good.  I just had it removed in hopes of trying to get pregnant.  I will be honest, it was a LOT easier coming out then it was going in since my uterus is off center and tilted backwards.
