Lump under arm

I am not sure if I'm posting this on the right board but anyway I started working out 2 weeks ago and I went to shave my armpits and noticed a lump. It was a lump like I am going to get a pimple or ingrown hair and it hurts when touched. Should I be concerned or do you nice ladies think its a swollen sweat gland or such? Would a cancerous lump hurt to touch? I have never had this before working out.Do you think it is just coincidence? Thanks in advance...

What I have heard is lumps that are fairly a good size that hurt, you really don't need to be worried about. It is the ones that don't hurt that need to be checked out. I am not trying to scare anyone but lumps that are usually not painful are sometimes connected to cancer. If it is a lymph node that is painful, you could have an infection soomewhere in your body and your body responds to the swelling to fight the infection.
When in doubt, check it out!!!

Thanks for your replies. I am thinking its jut a swollen sweatgland. I will get it checked out if it doesn't go away in a few days.

I had a lump under my arm once before also- it started out small and went away then came back and just kept getting a little bigger.  It was also painful to touch.  I too got freaked out and went to the dermatologist.  He took it out right there in the office just by numbing the area a little and sent it out to be tested to make sure it wasn't cancerous.  He said he thought it was just a cyst and not to worry...sure enough it was just a cyst!  Don't freak out, those things happen a lot

Thank you Thank you,
You ladies made me feel so much better already. I will give it a little while then see if it gets better. Mine only hurts when I push on it also.

Most likely, it is an infected hair follicle...watch it for a while.  I had one too, my dr. inspected it, said it should go away....it took about 2 months to dissapear...mine only hurt when I would push on it.  USUALLY, cancer lumps won't hurt....
