Lumps/Bumps Normal?

by jalita, Oct 02, 2009 09:15PM
I really dont know where to post this, as far as the topic. I feel really dumb for even posting this, but oh well.
I am 25 and have never been sexually active.
A few weeks ago, while wiping myself, I noticed something like stuck or whatever down there. I looked and there were two side by side bumps or lumps down there. I feel ashamed that I don't know the anatomy of myself. So i dont know if this is normal. I guess these bumps/lumps are on the skin, flesh colored, i guess on the inside of the labia... so the labia minora. ..
I had a pap smear or pap test, is there a difference? on Sept 2. and i guess that came back normal. i noticed the stuff (dont know what to call them, bumps, lumps... i dont know)  maybe two or three weeks after the appt. I've tried looking all over the internet for stuff, but it doesnt help that I dont know what the anatomy is called.
I could make try to draw it, but that wouldnt help on here.
Thanks for reading...
I really don't want to go to the gynecologist for them to just look down there. I have other issues and yeah it doesnt seem possible.
All the diagrams i found online dont show these things that i see down there.. so I dont know...

Don't be embarrassed or shameful.
These bumps/lumps look like little pieces of skin that are hanging out from just inside your vagina? Same pinkish color? If so it's nothing to be worried about. Not sure what it's called either, but if it helps you any...I'm 42 and I asked about the same thing about 3 years ago. It's just skin my ob/gyn told me,and nothing to worry about.
It did freak me out when I first noticed them though...3 babies and never noticed it before that...lol
I think one fell off after the last baby though...at least I can't see it anymore.

They don't really hang down. they are like balls of something or something. And I dont think they are near or inside the vagina.
Oh well..

thanks for replying though.

Hi there!

I had the same problem a few years back and I still get them once in awhile. No doctor has ever been able to diagnose me with something. I ended up getting 9 of them at once, small and large, so I went in to the ER. The doctor there didn't know what they were so they decided to "drain" them. So they froze the area and sliced them open to let out the fluid.

I recently got a new doctor and when I told him about this, he was furious! Never EVER get incisions near the vagina without a proper doctor (gynocologist)!!! I was very lucky that I didn't develop an infection that could have turned serious.

I am not able to give you more information because I didn't get any myself. I was simply told that they were cysts. It makes sense because at the time, I was not sexually active so it ruled many STD's out. They are painful and annoying but I think for the most part, it's just emotional. I felt dirty even though I wasn't lol

Some say to take hot baths but I was told not to. It's mostly caused by a change in hormones. If they become bigger or you end up getting more of them, please go see a doctor. A GOOD doctor :)

Best of luck :)
