MONO!!

by jenna1234, Jun 14, 2007 12:00AM
Hi i was just wondering if anyone has had mono before. I have no symptoms but im wondering what the likely hood is that i'll get it. I was with my friend in a car the other day...ate some of her ice cream with my OWN spoon. We have just hung out and watched movies...she hasnt coughed on me or anything and she definitely got it from her boyfriend from clear kissing contact. Im going on vacation and starting a new job in the beginning of july...what is the likelyhood that i could get it and how can i prevent it!!! all opinions are wanted!! :)

i've had it, and it is nooo fun.  i think there is a chance you could catch it from your friend, but if you take something like airborne like 3 times a day for 3 or 4 days your immune system will probably fight it off.

either way, that's the way to prevent it - take immune-boosting supplements like astragalus, echinacea, vitamin c, and zinc.  (you can get all those in one product, Best Defense, which i love, but it's only available through Herbalife distributors.  you can find a distributor in your area at www.Herbalife.com, but if you don't want to do that you could go to the store and pick up some Airborne.  it's just not as good)

I had mono before, back when I was around 11. I had it until I was close to 13. All I remeber is that I was always tired, and very week and everytime I got sick even with just a cold I would be sick for like 2 weeks sometimes 3 weeks. Mono affects your immune system, so get plenty of vitamin C. And also sharing is not a good idea [i know we all share, i still do], especially with someone who already has mono, because your chances of getting it are good. I got mono from a boyfriend [kissing] and I gave mono to 2 of my friends because we always shared stuff [drinks, food etc.]

i have read about mono and i seem to have all the symptoms but i also have fever blisters all over the outside and and inside of my mouth and i have little red dots all over my tongue. so im wonering could this just be a virus or do i really have mono?

mono is a virus.  fever blisters & dots on your tongue are not usually symptoms of mono.  i'd recommend going to a doctor for this
