Mass on my cervix

I just received a call from the dr's office who told me that they need to remove a mass that is approximately 1.6cm from my cervix by way of a d&c. She said the utereus was just fine, it was just a mass and they would be calling me to schedule an appt -- I guess I'm alittle scared when they say mass, whats the real difference between that and a cyst?
