May possibly be pregnant but negative urine results

So i just came back from the gyn, and none of my problems have been answered. I have been spotting on and off since my last LIGHT period, and as of today I am 2 days late.

I tell the good ol doctor this, and she doesn't give me a blood test like I feel like I need, she gives me a urine test for pregnancy which of course comes up negative. SHe procedes to do the pap, but then she says she can't really do it because of all the blood. What? I am not on my period, and I only see blood when I wipe. What is going on??? She took some samples and I don't know the results yet, but she gave me a prescription to stop the bleeding.

I really feel as if I am pregnant, because my body has never been through all the changes it has been through within the last month and it doesnt feel like I am coming on my period anytime soon. Has anyone else gone through this? What else could be the cause of my problems (nausea, spotting, tiredness, pelvic cramping)?

i think that is what i am going to have to do....its just weird because all of a sudden i started to bleed only when i wipe, and its light pink. my doctor said on june 29th that if i dont have my period in 3 weeks to go back for a prego test. i figured i would take an at home prego test it gives  the same results as if  i went to the dr doesnt it?? but like i said 2 negatives and i want to be prego and will be disappointed. theres anthor part to the story wheni had my lil gurl i had a cyst on 1 my falloipan tubes and was removed. drs said it would be harder for me to get prego again, that was 4 years ago. i have always had unprotected sex with my boyfriend and havent used any birth control methods since i had my lil gurl. thats why im confussed.....

If you are bleeding at all, whether it be light or heavy, during your menstral week, then it is your period.  I learned that by having the same problems.  My OBGYN says that and type of bleeding during menstartion constitutes for your period.

I just wanted to know if you ever found out what you had. I have been experiencing almost exactly the same smptoms as you.  Very light brown bleeding for a month straight and then right around when my period was due the bleeding turned more of a bright red in color but was still light.  I also have had a negative pregnanc result.  I am scheduled for an ultrasound tomorrow.

I think it is Flase or Flage, for the medicine prescribed. I didn't get it filled yet because I am going to a different doctor to get a second opinion. I just thought it was crazy, that she said that it was soooo much blood that she couldn't perform the papsmear correctly-I am not spotting any more or on my period.

if you have been spotting for a month then it definatly is hormonal... and if the spotting was reguarding pregnancy then you'd have a positive test (Even urine) by now since its been going on for so long.

The dr wouldnt risk giving you the meds if she thought you were pregnant.. and she probablly can see more blood on the cervix... although even belleding I'm suprised she said that.. I've had paps on full blown periods because when I call to cancel they say no big thing.

what is the med that they prescribed?

I have been spotting on and off since my last light period in October. I am 2 days late for my period and usually I would be having cramps from hell and breast tenderness telling me I am about to have my period. I am not having that. I just wanted to know why the doctor said there was so much blood, when I don't even have to wear a pad. She didn't do a full pap smear because she said she wanted to wait until when I was done bleeding.

She gave me prescription for Flage...and told me to come back in 2 weeks or after I have my period.I have been bleeding on/off for weeks now-why wasn't this a cause for alarm for her??? I am so frustrated right now.

Why should this be a cause for alarm?

Because I have been bleeding (spotting) for a month now. I know that you spot a little right when you are beginning your period. I know that your body doesn't work like clockwork, I have had irregular periods for about a year now, so I know very well. But since the last time I've had sex, my body has been in wack. I have never had this happen to me before....and nobody seems to know why that is why I am frustrated.

I do not know why she gave me medicine to stop the bleeding, if she thinks that I should be coming on my period soon. Makes no sense to me. I do plan on going to a different doctor to get a second opinion.

I would think if you are 2 days late and when she examined you there was too much blood to do the pap then your period is probably starting.  I don't understand why she would give you meds to stop the bleeding if you are expecting your period.

Why wasn't it a cause for alarm?
Perhaps because your condition is NOT AN ISSUE?

I hate to be the bearer of harsh news, but sometimes your body WON'T be clockwork...sometimes you WILL hurt...sometimes you will see things that just don't make much sense, and in the end, it will be nothing.  I seriously doubt that you are pregnant...and two days late is nothing to panic and go to the doctor over, honestly...my doctor would have laughed at me and told me to go home.  Moreover, he'd have been right do say it.

A pap smear would be a good idea, but yes, she has to wait until there is less blood to damage the sample.  In her case 'so much blood' equates to 'I can't take a sample until there is less.'

There is no point in getting frustrated over it now.  Your doctor is doing everything she feels necessary, and if that is not enough to satisfy you, go get a second opinion from another doctor.  Don't be surprised if they tell you the same.

On the other hand...a med student who gets a C in school is still called 'Doctor'...

i'm sorry but i am very confused? you are 2 days late for your period. you go to the dr. and she says there is blood in there and you see blood when you wipe? (your period?)it's often light the first couple days. then, she gives you pills to stop the bleeding? i am just as confused as you are but it doesnt sound as if you are pregnant. i could be wrong but it doesn't sound that way. after your pap and her poking around up there, i wouldnt be surprised if you do get your period. sometimes that can trigger it. hopefully someone else can "iron" this out.
