Menopause causing ankle and foot swelling?

by linnybug, Jan 14, 2007 12:00AM
I am 42 and have begun to experience pre-menopausal symptoms including irratic periods, sore breasts and occasional mild episodes of dizziness. My gyno did blood work and I was told my levels indicated I was indeed entering this phase.  I have noticed something new.  On occasion, my ankles tend to sell a bit, which I've noticed is often triggered by salty foods.  I don't have hypertension and my blood work is essentially normal.  My thyroid is sluggish. Is this another symptom of menopause?  I've read that this can be a symptom.  Has anyone else experienced this? I seem to do fine if I cut back on my sodium intake. I hate this!
