Menstral Clots

Let me start off by saying I am deathly afraid of doctors...my period is always irregular but the past 2 times I got it I had huge clots with it my biggest one the size of a golf ball maybe a tad smaller...I feel fine I don't have any pain but I did have a miscarrige 2 1/2 years ago when I was 18.  like I said I'm deathly afraid of Dr.s so I never got checked out.  I was just wondering if this is really bad...has anyone had this happen before?

thanks

hi, i know that clumpy blood clots are ok to have during periods but small ones.. do you take advil or motrin for pain during your period? i got also in the past big clots that really freaked me out, and when i spoke to my doctor she said that advil and motrin thins out the blood so the period goes through faster so it could be why you get clots . but what about another misscarriage? do you just get clots or do you have tissue like discharge also?
i know its easier to say but you should really see the doctor.. trust me they wont think anything bad of you. the gyn doctor sees all kinds of vagina problem.  hope this helps..

If your clots are the size of a golf ball then you need to call the doctor.  That is not normal.

For perspective, women who have given birth are supposed to call the doctor if they get clots as big as a golf ball, so for someone who has not given birth this size of clot is concerning.

At the VERY least, you need to call the doctor's office and ask what they recommend.

Good luck!

I haven't taken any type of pain medicine for months...I know I should go to the Dr but I panic for some reason when it comes to Dr's I was in a car accident 2 years ago and still have neck and shoulder pain because i never went to the hospital.  This is just a huge pain because other than obviously being worried, I have to change my tampon every 1 1/2 hours because a clot comes out...I also don't have insurence and hardly any money...do you guys have any ideas where I can get free/cheap heathcare, if by some mirical I can talk myself into going.  I was thinking maybe the clots aren't really that big because they're just getting stuck together on my tampon (I'm sorry I know thats really gross.)  And does anyone know when/if I should start worring about blood loss?  I've been sick for the past few days (I think I caught mono from a friend) so Im already exausted... thank you all so much for taking the time to respond :)

You do need to see a DR.  Many women pass clots during their periods, but anything larger than a quarter warrants getting checked out.  I understand that you are afraid of DRs, but if this turns out to be a serious medical problem you can guarantee that you will end up seeing more DRs in the future.  Best to get it checked out now.  Good luck to you.  I hope everything is OK.

I, too, also get huge clots - but...I an anemic, iron deficient and have a low platelet count (clotting agent) blood work will tell.  Please see a DR, try not to worry..........

You can always try Planned Parenthood.  Also, go a day without tampons so you can get a good idea of how big the clots actually are.

You should call your county health department and see what they suggest.  My county health department accepts patients for anything and will treat them for a cost pro-rated for their income.  Look in the phone book for "____ County Health Department" or online.

You should be concerned about blood loss if you are soaking 1 pad per hour.  Clots are concerning if they are large, like you have, regardless of if they're stuck to your tampon or not.

Good luck and I hope you get some answers soon!

I am 44 yrs of age.  Five months ago, a very, painful, heavy menstrual cycle.  Now , 1 month ago, no period.  This month, heavy, and clotting (For 5-6 hours of clots} what causes the pain and clots?  What is usually done to relieve this?

Please reply,
Tamsters

definitely see a doctor, but don't be alarmed.  I have the same problem, and it is because of fibroids.

there are a lot of other possibilities as well.  I am also in my mid 40's and I think it is also a part of peri-menopause.
