Menstrual Weight Gain

Hello All,
I have a silly question! I'm 28 years old and have a pretty regular period. I have not been on any form of birth control in 4 years and it seems that every month my weight gain is different around my period time. I also go through a lot of mood swings, Ive never thought of myself as a crazy person, but I swear my emotions are out of control every month recently. My husband had cancer 5 years ago and the doctors thought he would become sterile as a result of the treatments. We are not currently trying to get pregnant but I guess we have always felt, If it happens it happens? Would going back on the pill fix me? Thanks for listening!!!

Personally, I would not go back on the pill.  All of the "symptoms" you have are exactly what I get on the pill!  That's just me of course, everyone is different.  There are a lot of natural things you could try to relieve your PMS. There is some info about eliminating caffeine and increasing calcium, but I don't know the details.  I'm sure you could google it.  Of course, exercise is supposed to help.  If you are into herbs you could look into vitex or evening primrose oil.  Red Moon Herbs actually sells a PMS tincture, but I forget what all is in it. Obviously, you would want to do some research before you started taking any herbs.  I hope this helps.

Thats an idea, I never thought about herbs. What do you think about the abnormal weight gain? I swear it is different every month, what should normal weight gain be?

Couldn't answer that one for you, but you are not alone.  My DH & I are actively TTC, and I swore I was pregnant two cycle ago b/c my stomach was so huge!  My DH actually kind of laughed at me b/c he'd never seen my stomach so big.  I stayed that way like 5 days before AF finally arrived.  I think some women are just prone to retain a lot of water during that time.  I also notice that my bras start to feeling a bit snug too.  I would just make sure you're drinking LOTS of water and really limit your salt/sodium intake when it's close to AF's arrival.
